Sheraton Iguazu Resort and Spa

Nice enough hotel with beautiful views! Had a terrible experience trying to get a glass of wine to enjoy the sunset! The staff was a bit slow in an uncrowned bar and one of the waitresses was beyond rude! I expect better service in a Starwood resort!

Definitely amazing, one of a kind view of the Iguazu falls. It’s a shame the management is ok with serving mediocre food while charging US prices. I ordered a pizza margarita and my wife got caesar salad. The pizza was frozen pizza a la Trader Joe and the salad was worse than that!

Stumbled in here by accident after walking around the lower circuit of the national park and looked like a nice calm place for a lunch. The hotel rests on a hill with a small view of the falls.
Boy had the burger and I had the arabic bread? The English translation of food is interesting sometimes, but it was basically pita bread with grilled veggies (onions, zuchini, eggplant) in the middle. A glass of wine in the sun and a nice break from the pizzas and subways in the dining areas of the national park. The price was close enough to the fast food stands in the park and we got a nice break from the crowds, coati and saw birds and lizards (igunas?) with a sunny patio almost all to ourselves.

I am taking one star off because the customer service here sucked. In both Spanish and English the front desk staff was not helpful despite the fact that I asked for further clarification on the same questions regarding spa hours, trails, early check-​in and hotel fees in a handful of variations. This is usually not an issue for me because I assume no one knows what they are doing regardless but my friends and I were there for two days and one night at the beginning of the Argentinian winter, so considering the $ 350 a night price tag, I needed at least two clear answers.
All of my whining aside, this was the only hotel within the Iguazu Park grounds on the Argentinian side. We had views of the falls, forest and the gargantuan rainbow created by the falls while the room easily had space for three adult women. The breakfast buffet was also out of this world good and provided us more homemade Dulce De Leche. The room and bathroom were clean, no insects or animals from the outside were trying to make themselves at home on our balcony (although there were stickers om the glass balcony door warning us not to feed the monkeys) and the heat worked, which was a God send. Seeing Iguazu Falls for the first time is one of the defining moments of my life. This hotel made that reality easier so I shall definitely return, if given the chance and just immediately demand to speak to a manager should a bug metaphorically crawl up my butt.

We stayed on the third (top) floor with a waterfalls view with free wifi (perks of being starwood member and going during low tourist season). We got quite lucky with the weather and falls, since usually off season means much colder winter weather and low water levels producing less dramatic falls.
We stayed at a more affordable hotel on the Brazil side, a few days before, and it was worth the splurge on the Argentinean side. Being inside of the national park, there was no complicated transportation, we could just walk outside and the paths to the falls were very easy to get to. Unfortunately being there does not give you any earlier admission to the park (everything opens at 8AM) and park rangers walk through the area to clear any potential dangers (predatory nocturnal animals and the like). However, calculating the time to park, buy your tickets and either wait for the train or to walk to the area where the hotel was situated, gained us easily half an hour. Being a little bit a head of the large crowds allowed us some very peaceful morning views of the falls without competing with selfie sticks and aggressive photographers, as well as some quietness to enjoy the nature of the surrounding. We saw two types of toucans, several green parakeets, acuti (rodents), monkeys, gray swifts and vultures during the morning, most of which was scared away by the noise and the heat by afternoon. For that alone, it’s worth staying at this hotel.
The views of the falls was very nice to have looking outside your room. However, if you do plan to be out all day and have a tighter budget, you can see virtually the same views from the patio bar restaurant. This is a great place to sit outside and have a drink and watch the animals migrate at dusk, the curious monkeys and daring birds who try to steal something off your plate when you’re not looking, or just to listen to the sound of the water falling. No, the falls are not lit up at night and thankfully the park closes at 5pm, and there’s no cheesy light and music show. But you can still hear the falls and in the evening the mist rises out and creates a thick fog, by morning the warm sun burns it off.
The rooms are standard, clean, fluffy towels, soft sheets. The shower has a small tub, but a modern partial glass divide (between tub and sink countertop) without a curtain, which made it a little harder to keep the water from getting on the floor. I realized later that the evening service comes by offering more towels and a bathmat, which is helpful (along with water and chocolates for the pillows).
The room operates like other energy saving room, when the key card is inserted into the slot, this ensures that all lights are turned off before leaving the room. This in theory is a good method of conserving electricity, however note that electronics plugged in do not get charged and when leaving the room at night, its very difficult to see anything when all the lights go out and you’re struggling down the short hallway to get out the door.
The breakfast buffet is included and will provide a very hearty breakfast, with an array of fresh fruits, yogurt, cereals, cold cut meats, cheese, pastries, eggs, sausage and if you’d like, a custom omelet.
We ate both a dinner at the restaurant (downstairs where breakfast is served) and upstairs (in the lobby) at the bar, which has a full menu of appetizers, drinks and sandwiches.
The dinner downstairs was quite good. I had a special with a light local fish accompanied with some grilled vegetables and topped with capers. It was a set with a pumpkin soup appetizer, main course, a glass of wine and dessert for a reasonable price. We also tried a filet mignon with polenta covered in a hollandaise sauce which was rich and tasty. The meal upstairs was a little lighter, with several mixed drinks. The mojitos were sweet mixtures of lime and basil which get difficult to drink near the bottom when the straw becomes inhibited. The caipirinhas were decently strong, but also quite sugary. My favorite had to be the much simpler cuba libre, which included a glass of unadulterated rum and a bottle of coke (made with real sugar, not corn syrup!) to add as you please. We got an appetizer of crispy chicken (chicharron de pollo) that came with ketchup and tarter sauce. They weren’t terribly crispy but decent. They offered spice cheese cubes and olives to snack on. For a meal, we had sandwich which was decent but unmemorable.
Service was professional and polite and we enjoyed our stay. Two night was more than enough time to see the park, walk all the walkways, hike the macuco trail, take a jungle tour/​boat tour into the falls and see quite a few animals.
Most importantly, although the outside pool wasn’t terribly warm and is rather shallow (5 ft at most) I would recommend spending a little money on a hydrotherapy session in the beautiful indoor pool. It has a series of massaging jet sprays in a warm pool for 30 mins, US$ 20 (during 10am-​4pm) It was relaxing.

Yes, it is a once in a lifetime view. But I just checked in and I am a little pissed off at paying $ 25 a day for wi-​go that doesn’t work. I am here for three days and intended to use Netflix on my iPad for my evening’s entertainment (as opposed to watching BIG BANG THEORY in Spanish. By the way, my $ 50 a night hotel in Buenos Aires had excellent wi-​fi. I give it 3 stars only because for over $ 500 a night I want and deserve it all.

Going to the Iguazu Falls was a once in a lifetime experience. It also comprised of a one night stay, flying in early one morning and leaving later in the afternoon the next day. Staying at this hotel was also facilitated by an UNHEARD OF «is that a mistake?» price for a Sheraton.
First, this Sheraton looks very 70s or, at the latest, 80s. It has the sloped sides which make it look like one of the original hotels at Disney World, though obviously much smaller. Inside, the way it is decked out is simple and modern, albeit dated. Still, it was very clean and inviting. If you like to wake up in your hotel and stumble out of bed barefoot onto a warm carpet, you can forget that. I believe this was the only hotel from that trip to South America that had tile floors. Just like homes in South Florida, you will see that many opt for tile floors because of the high humidity. Aside from that, the room was fairly nice. Also, for the low price for that one night, you will get the «jungle view» and NOT the «falls view.» You won’t be in your room during the day to enjoy a view of the falls and you can’t really see them very well at night. What you could see from the «correct» side is the illuminated pool area. That said, unless you’re loaded or it’s your honeymoon, save your money and opt for the «jungle view.»
There was a breakfast buffet included in the rate. This is very typical in South America and, wow, are they ever filling. They are more like brunches.
The service was very amicable and, God damn it, they were more than happy to speak Spanish with me! Also, if you got the «jungle view» and you want a photo or a quick view of the falls from 3 or 4 floors up, on the other side of the hotel, you might be able to do so briefly from only a few vantage points.
Note that this Sheraton is INSIDE the national park, down the road from the town of Puerto Iguazu and one which cuts a swath through the jungle. The map will indicate this. It is the only such hotel property. The upside is that you can actually walk to the falls. The downside is being far from town at night. For that, I’m deducting 1 star right off the bat.
If you can get a low room rate, I’d say the Sheraton Iguazu deserves 4 stars, as I have given this property. With what the rates look like now, I’d probably give it 3 stars and might suggest staying at a quaint inn in Puerto Iguazu. However, because of the rate I obtained and the exceptional price-​value relationship that came with that, I’ll leave it at 4 stars.

Freaking awesome. The resort is within the national park grounds, and you can see and hear Iguazu Falls from your room and balcony if you pay the upgrade and stay on the water side. You can actually feel a light water mist as you sit on the balcony sipping red wine. The rooms are actually sparsely-​appointed, and not that large, but you won’t be complaining. You can feel the power of this newly-​elected natural seventh wonder of the world.
This is one of the premium locations in the entire world. I think there are only two resorts in the park.

I can’t believe that Starwood considers this a category 5 hotel. It’s a total dump. The only thing it has going for it are the views of the falls and that it’s the only hotel inside the park. The rooms are run down, the restaurant is awful, the wifi doesn’t work. Half the hotel is covered in scaffolding. I’ve stayed in a nicer Motel 6. Please save your money or your points and stay somewhere else.
