A friend who lives nearby took us here and it was fantastic. The lunch menu is great — different options from light yummy salads to big hearty meals like beef cheeks and cheese burgers. The sashimi salad was terrific although a bit overpriced for the portion size. The atmosphere is great — like a little café you would find in Bowral with sweet fresh flowers for sale and china on the walls.

The menu looks amazing but the food is definitely lackluster. The flavours are just not there. It’s a beautiful venue though. We ordered the french toast and croque madame which were average. Enjoyed the scones though.

Very good lunch and looking at the breakfast menu, brekky would be worth a try too. There is plenty of room to read the paper and the coffee is very good. I succeeded in spilling mine over me and the floor but everything was cleaned without a fuss and another coffee magically appeared. Scones were big and crumbly and nice. Main meals of Caesar salad and bubble & squeak were quite different and tasty. No problems parking nearby in the street too.

Not so friendly. What I like is the verandah, except when cold or overcast, what is ok is the food when the right person is on and is in the mood, if not it is over priced, over complicated and often has glaring faults(large fish bones, cold, over or under cooked), but where they need some fancying up is in the cake department. If you don’t have the skills to make them, then find someone that does and give us some variety. What I dislike, is the service and it only gets worst the busier this place gets. You are either ignored, incorrect orders, very slow or a combination of all, unless you are a friend of the staff or owners. Which is a great shame as this location had great possibilities.

There’s not a lot of restaurants this side of Great North Road, but if you ever come up this way, Prato Café Diner is worth a visit. The place made me feel like I was out of town. The wooden building looks like a converted old country barn(nicely done, though) with high ceilings and a general airy, breezy atmosphere. I ordered a polenta special and it was pretty good. Everyone else’s orders was above average. Service was very efficient, too. This seems like the perfect place to meet for brunch or a nice lunchtime catchup. It has a very relaxed ambience. They have dinner on some days. Free, untimed parking on Great North Road(this part isn’t busy, so you’ll always find a spot.)
