Apple is one of the few clubby clubs in Adelaide that I don’t mind visiting if it’s a night to be out and clubbing, until 11pm, because this is when all the twinks and tweens start to appear. The large and loud dance floor is surrounded by plenty of booths and seating spots in one of the best church conversions this city has. When you feel like a moment of relief from the downstairs dancing, or just a quiet moment with someone you’ve been eyeing all night, the viewing area upstairs around the main room still lets you feel like part of the experience. The out side smoking room is adequately large, with ample seats and protected from the winds. The front bar is usually pretty slow for service, but upstairs has much less queues.

Awful and pretentious. I felt so judged immediately because I’m not the type to be wearing designer clothes and the door fee is ridiculous. I was dragged here by a group of people though and had no say. Typical terrible club music but there was a very yummy cocktail, I think it was called an apple pie or something. Other than that cocktail though it was terrible and not at all my scene. If you’re a rich snob with no music taste and money to burn you might like it I guess…

I wonder if they really check IDs here? I’ve been to Apple a few times, and I swear some of the people here are only part way through high school. Young kids incapable of controlling their alcohol intake. There is occasionally some good DJs playing here, but only very occasionally. Apart from that there isn’t too much that’s good about Apple Bar. Drinks are pricey and the staff are pretty douchey. Also, paint this building properly. DOn’t just whack a coat of thick mark grey paint over the exterior. It;s a beautiful building with intricate exterior artwork that should be coupled with some authentic restoration.

I’ve been here only once. Never again. That is all. Oh, you want more? Feel free to go along, pay the ridiculous cover charge, and see why I avoid this place like the plague.

I feel like I need to put my 2 cents in for Apple. This club always gets a bad wrap, but honestly it can be amazing. Yes it is full of what looks like under-agers, the door charge is expensive and there are often ridiculous lines to get in. But, it is becoming one of the biggest and most popular clubs in Adelaide. Some of the names playing there are huge. Last week I headed to Apple to see big name Tiga. All sorts of people from around Adelaide, who would rather be dead than be seen in Apple, were pouring into the club. People that genuinely appreciate good music. Yes the line-up was massive, but it was my best friends birthday so we got in quickly, cheaply and she got a bunch of free drink tokens. When we walked in, it was hard to move around but we headed over to the bar, realised it was 2 for 1 vodkas and got served relatively quickly. Tiga’s set was amazing, the atmosphere was great and everyone had fun. I must admit I left very quickly after his set was over, but it had been good. As much as people don’t like Apple, you shouldn’t all knock it. If you want to see some great acts play, this may be the place you have to head to.

I should have known better when my 20-year-old neighbour said he felt old at this place. It really is for teeny boppers who haven’t learned how much alcohol they can consume before vomiting. Sticky floors, girls screaming at each other in the toilets, boys who, with a belly full of spirits, think they have the right to grope, it has it all here. It’s a shame as it really is a gorgeous venue(see website pics for proof) and was one of my favourite venues when I was in my mid twenties. I’m happy to leave this for the young-uns.

It’s like existing inside a giant kaleidoscope. And that my friends, is the only cool thing about this place. Firstly, if you’re strapped for cash then be warned, there is a $ 20 door charge. Secondly if you want to feel good about paying this money to get inside, my advice is go to another club. Apple Bar is a great venue, with unfriendly door staff, irritating music &18yr old slappers. If you like a bit more class than the sticky carpet or being able to tell pretty much what colour underwear any random girl is wearing then avoid. Apple is Adelaides unco synagogue version of the red light district in Amsterdam — except I’d bet that the people are on a lot more than weed. It gets two stars for the club layout.

Previously this premises was home to Church the nightclub and was probably the worst looking club in Adelaide. Now much to the relief of those of us who had ever stood on the shaky Church balcony, Apple is the upgraded and vastly improved version. Completely transformed from its former self, Apple stands boasting an extravagant makeover, in which the owners of Apple went all out. This club has high quality furnishing, and I know that for a fact. Although I am not a massive fan of clubs and I avoid them whenever I can, Apple is not too bad for every now and then. On a typical Saturday night the first level will be playing your basic dance hits, and then when migrating upstairs you will get your dose of smooth r&b classics. You also get a bunch of free shots if you say it’s your birthday. Not bad for a former synagogue believe it or not.
