Good place to catch up with friend after a movie! We walked in for lunch on Monday, no problem with the seat. I ordered Yiros Combination with lamp and chicken and a place of juice, came out about $ 24. The food and service were good, I didn’t have to wait for long at all. Definitely love to go back next time.

Let’s just say Eros, the god of love and namesake of the establishment, is not inspiring this review. At $ 16.9 for what amounted to an appetiser my lamb salad was, well, underwhelming. The lamb was meager and overlooked(chewy) and about 1⁄3 was Inedible due to it being grizzle and burnt. I cannot in good conscience muster a better rating for this overhyped restaurant; in fact the 1 star is earned completely by the attentive staff.

My parents have raved about Eros for as long as I can remember, and frequently bring their friends here for lunch. I have been to Eros Kafe next door, but never to Eros Ouzeri. We wandered in on a Saturday night without a booking, and managed to get a table. We decided to try the Grand Banquet, which had a selection of popular items. The food was about what I expected. The Paithakia(marinaded lamb cutlets — yuuuum) and the Kalamari(needs no translation) were the stand-outs. The final course of assorted desserts such as baklava and kataifi were also appreciated. However, the Tiri-Saganaki was chewy, tough and lukewarm at best, and the salad didn’t do anything for me. The bottle of red we picked went well with most items in the banquet. Serving sizes were small — average but, being 10 of them, we walked out completely full. Service was a little mixed. Staff were very attentive when we first arrived, and when we ordered drinks and food. They also moved us to another table on our request after we had finished our entrees. However, after this, food began taking a long time to arrive(the last two meals were both delivered over half an hour apart), despite probing a member of staff. We were told that they had been very quiet during the week, and therefore weren’t prepared for the amount of bookings and walk-in diners they had received. From reading other reviews, the«we’re very busy» line seems to be well-used. Due to the slow service, I noticed that over the two and a half hours our dinner took, there was no point that the restaurant was full. There were always multiple spare tables, and multiple spare staff. There were also some minor stuff-ups, such as being brought a couple of the courses twice, but we put that down to the change of table. I’d be giving Eros two stars if it weren’t for the food and the fact that we were so full by the end of the dinner marathon. The service is a real let down, and a 2.5 hour eating experience is not exactly ideal for regular dining. I think, if I am to try Eros Ouzeri again, I might go in a larger group… and make sure I’m not pressed for time!

I am a massive fan of Greek food, so this place was pretty disappointing. The servings were on the small side(the sharing plate would barely feed one as a starter) the saganaki was tough and chewy, and the octopus and calamari were underwhelming. The service was also terrible, they didn’t check on us once after we received our meals, in the end we had to go up to the counter to pay, couldn’t have ordered another glass of wine if we had wanted to. The wine was really nice, a local Adelaide hills pinot noir, and though the first glass we received had a hair in it, when we took it to the counter they swapped it straight away. Overall would not come here again.

Tony took me here as a surprise on Valentines Day. The reason they only get 3 stars is because we were both really keen for octopus, and apparently they had sold out of octopus and had been for two weeks. The starter(Grilled Haloumi) was delivered quickly, but the mains took a bit longer — but then it was Valentines Day and the place was PACKED so I will give them a break for that. They had a list of cocktails, and while it tasted awesome, that also took quite some time to be delivered. We also found the staff took a long time to come back to our table to check if we needed more drinks… maybe we need to come back on a less busy day so we can give them a good go. they were very apologetic so and definitely not rude. Overall it was a great meal, a good experience, and we’d definitely eat there again!

This place gets 5 stars for being open in January when other places take an extended vacation(you know, when consumers also have time to visit and explore Adelaide) and they were open after 9:30pm on a Monday night. We turned up. Craved slow cooked lamb, fresh greens and garlic flavours. Did we get it? Kinda. 3 stars for food. We ordered calamari, lamb, scallops and greens. The greens were my fave. Fresh green beans with pesto and zucchini. The lamb satisfied hunger but it was a souvlaki spit affair. Carved off the spit and refried in the grill which dried it out a bit and made it a little chewy. Scallops were nice… Seared with bacony bits. Calamari was stock standard summer Greek Island stuff served with lemon and a little salad. Nice wine list and not too expensive. All good, except the lamb is something I wouldn’t order again.

Eros, you only get that one star for the food. The food was brilliant. The rest was not. 1. Starters took an hour to come out, after we prodded a waitress AND the owner to produce them. 2. Mains took another half an hour. It was NOT a busy night. 3. And this is a really suss thing. I ordered a Coke Zero in a bottle. So the top was supposed to come off the bottle and the coke would be cold, fizzy etc. I get it, pour it into my glass, take one sip and say to the table«This tastes like post mix.» My mum then tries hers and says the same thing. We look at the bottles and the coke is the wrong colour, the brown of postmix. The bottle’s stamp date was also out of date by 6 months. So my guess is that they have been refilling coke zero bottles with post mix and selling them for bottled prices. You dodgy bastards! After I told the waitress she went bright red and went and got us ‘fresh bottles that she took the tops off of in the kitchen.’ Suss.

I recently had a small work dinner here on a Saturday night, and we ordered the banquet for the 5 of us and it was very very nice. There was so much variety, and seeing as I don’t eat seafood or much red meat there was still heaps for me. The fried cheese with balsamic vinegar was amazing! And the chicken dishes were divine, even the hot chips(which came with the banquet, not Greek I know) had a delicious sauce with them. We had a great night, with fine wine, good food and great company. Although it was very busy and we were seated right next to the bar. And then my manager who was sitting closest to the high bar nearly had all these menus drop on her head because the clueless girl piled them wonkily and heaps high, I could see it happening. But the dinner was yummy and we had a good time, and it was all paid for by the company which is even better!

Perhaps it is all about what you order here, but I like this place a lot. I’ve come a few times — on ‘special dates’ and when I’m feeling vaguely cashed up. Yes, it is pricey. If Eros were to have a rumble with Adelaide’s other pricey Greek spot — Greek on Halifax — I’d be on the cheer team for Halifax. But I’d be at least a little torn — Eros Ouzeri is really good too. Notes: 1. The service is excellent. Very efficient and professional, and what you’d expect if you’re paying $ 30 for a main. 2. Saganaki Thalasino — you want to try this. A seafood feast with handmade festoni — kind of like pappardelle, big thick pasta. 3. You’re ‘splurging’ as they say. So just do it, don’t skimp. If you can get a big group do a banquet.

Named after the god of love, I really wanted to fall head over heels for this place. I had been anticipating my first meal here for a while — I’d only ever tried the meze outside on a balmy eve, so I was stoked to be invited to a dinner event and get the full experience. Fine Greek dining, with table service, and a mouthwatering menu sounded SO my cup of tea. I was impressed with the décor, it’s inviting and simple and classic, all earth tones and wood and white linen. The service was friendly but our meals took ages to come out — and it wasn’t that busy. The meze was good(even if the dips weren’t amazing), and the wine list extensive: but my disappointment was with the moussaka. At $ 30 a pop, and considering it’s a Greek classic that they should’ve done spectacularly, I was left wanting. It was a surprisingly bland affair — I’ve had tastier and better for half the cost. By all reports a lot of the others enjoyed the food and a good time was had, but I personally won’t go back again.
