Five Star Bakery

I’ve been here a few times, and each time I’m left feeling full and content. The sausage rolls are really good. You’d think sausage rolls would be an easy thing to master. It’s not. There are only a handful of places that do an above average sausage roll, and this place is one of them.
It’s pretty cheap too, so that combined with the good quality of the food means they do sell out of most things pretty early.
That’s where they lost a star.
If you know your food is good, and you know it’s going to sell out. Make more!

I arrived late, around 3pm and they were sold out of most things. They still had a lonely fruit and nut bar which didn’t last long as it was wicked good.
Penny pincher heaven. The most expensive item listed on the menu is Vietnamese cold rolls at 5 bucks!
The interior is G-​R-​E-​E-​N. The walls are green, the ceiling is green, and perhaps it’s the reflection of the walls and ceiling but the floors look green too.

I was really, really tempted to give this store some other rating to prove the title false. I was thinking up funny quips and everything. But then I tasted one of the pasties and I knew I had no choice.
Maybe it’s because I’m accustomed to plastic-​sealed, supermarket pasties. Maybe it’s because I’ve been wandering the city for hours on a starving belly. Maybe it’s because I’ve gone off sugar, and they dumped a load of sugar into this bad boy. I don’t know. But I DO know that the pasty tasted amazing. I’m salivating at the memory and am considering another purchase.
The inside is nice and well-​lit, with — true to the ‘green’ coloured theme of the place — energy saving light bulbs. The staff is nice. The prices are mercifully cheap. And the only mess I saw in the place was that one engendered by me as I ate my pasty, as neatly as a three year old might.
But I make no illusions; the five stars is all in the taste of the pasty.
