I wanted somewhere nice to relax and hop on my laptop whilst at the Adelaide Central Markets and stumbled across Hello Kitty. Wanted something off of the breakfast menu and they were happy to accommodate. When it arrived it was nice and the coffee, well one of the best I have had for a while. Nice and quiet and great place to do some work on the laptop. I will be back again.

Yesterday I was lucky enough to have my first hello kitty experience. My family and I had just been to Disney on ice and thought it would be lovely to stop off at this wonderful establishment. The restaurant was completely dead! With that being said it was a long weekend and we arrived at 5pm. We were greeted by 2 lovely gentlemen who showed my party to our seats. As soon as we sat down the smell hit us like a punch in the face and that was«Cigarette Smoke». My sister had a look outside and their was a cyber café next door so due to the smell and being with young children it was a little disappointing. We decided to order and I went with the Japanese chicken burger and the rest of the party went with burgers too. We placed our order and waited a good 45 minutes for our food. I was a little shocked as we were the only ones in the restaurant. Once the burgers came it was great than onwards. The burger tasted delicious!!! I can honestly say that it was one of the most nicest and tastiest burgers I have ever had. The rest of my party agreed however one didn’t really like the beef in her burger and said it tasted a little rubbery(if that makes sense) however I really enjoyed mine. We didn’t stay for dessert due to it taking so long to get the mains so we headed down to Krispy Kreme after. I will most definitely be back I just hope they improve on their cooking time as it can be hard waiting for food and having to deal with young kids. I think they will also need to address the Cigarette smoke as the smell was quite strong and this is an establishment for young kids as well as young adults. I was very pleased with the food and the surroundings and the cute little hello kitty touches throughout the store and food. Most definitely go specially if u have young children they will love it :)

What a cute atmospheric place to take the kids during school holidays. Everything about this café is cute, from the glittery décor to the Hello Kitty chocolate dusted image on top of your cappuccino. Desserts are almost to artistic to eat… i said ALMOST. lol… This time we tried the lunch menu items. wow… great selection of burgers, pasta, and rice dishes. It is a bit pricy so if you can grab one of the living social deals you will save a packet…

We were lucky enough to score a Scoopon for two(drink and dessert) at the newly opened Hello Kitty Café in Chinatown(we visited in 2015) It was a hard decision as we wanted to try a little bit of everything. I ended up trying the Potty Soil with meringue mushrooms and chocolate soil. It was served in a cute flower pot We also tried the crème brûlée, molten lava cake and some of the small individual desserts showcased inside. Service was a little slow but there was only 2 people one, one for coffee and worked exclusively at the coffee window. The coffees came nice and hot, strong and great flavour in a big mug. My partner has the hot chocolate but he reported it was a little sweet(weird for a self-pronounced sweet-tooth!) A word of warning, everything has some sort of Hello Kitty stencil or decoration all over it — its to be expected but it got old pretty quickly The ice cream was good as well, our 7 year old loved the ice cream, but wasn’t a fan of the watermelon shake The prices were a little high for a dessert-only café. Most big dishes were $ 15+ and they weren’t that huge a serving If you are a fan of Hello Kitty, like me, its a great place to go, but not something I would go to regularly. Great for photo ops too!

Adelaide is known for its many cafes and bars, Hello Kitty Café’ is another that has a cute gimmick. The desserts are great, and very aesthetically pleasing. Admittedly some of them do taste a little too ‘generic’ The prices are above average but the service is great, and usually very friendly. This place used to be a dessert bar but has turned into a burger bar /diner-eske place. They got rid of their best Matcha flavoured desserts and replaced them with generic burgers. It’s good for a feed but Adelaide is already saturated with burger bars we didn’t need another one. Maybe I am just bitter because I can’t have my green tea flavored crème brûlée anymore The décor is what you’d expect from a ‘Hello Kitty’ themed café’, naturally the cat’s face is plastered on everything from the walls, to the tables, water bottles, even the food. I’d be surprised if there wasn’t hello kitty printed toilet paper in the bathrooms. I checked. There’s not. Overall, interesting place to visit for the gimmick but after removing their desserts — they are just another burger bar /diner still the food is pretty decent, and I can’t complain

Earlier this year I went to Australia with my BFF. It was my birthday trip to celebrate the big 3 – 0! We spent weeks planning our itinerary, which included places in Sydney, Caines, Melbourne and Brisbane. Just before we finalized our itinerary and booked our flights, someone sent me an article about the first Hello Kitty Café in Australia. Uhhh, considering I am OBSESSED with Hello Kitty, I decided I just HAD to go. Like, HADTO. So my BFF — who is the best btw — and I agreed to drop Brisbane from our trip and add Adelaide instead; all so we can go to the Hello Kitty Café. :) Once we found the place, I just couldn’t help myself but to take a billion photos of all the cute desserts. If I could, I would’ve taken one of everything. I ended up getting the Green Tea Lover’s Cake(took about 10 minutes since the cake had to be warmed up), a chocolate orange macaron and a cappuccino(which I only ordered because they frothed kitty’s face into it). My friend got the Green Tea Sundae and an espresso. Though we both enjoyed our desserts, they weren’t spectacular. Good, but not great. But you’re likely not coming here because you’re going to get the best desserts ever. No, you’re coming here because Hello Kitty is so freaking cute and you just want to feel like you’re not dead inside. :) Totally worth the trip to Adelaide!(Also, we held Koalas in South Australia, which is banned in most other parts of the country, so DOUBLEWIN!)

This café is so much fun! It’s decorated so cutely with a huge paw on the ceiling and lots of Hello Kitty images all around. All of the dishes are Hello Kitty themed. I had a Mushroom Potty Potted Oreo-travaganza! It was utterly delicious. There was a layer of Oreo«Dirt», chocolate mousse, icecream and cake with a meringue mushroom on top. I also had a green tea latte. So yum, I cannot wait to go back again.

When we stumbled across this little place, I couldn’t NOT go in, being a fan of cats in general, and hopelessly curious about a Hello Kitty themed café. Everything in the display cabinet looks amazing, though as a glutard I was limited to only a few options. My nieces however went crazy on the chocolate waffles, which are of course shaped in the kitty face, and piled with chocolate sauce and chocolate ice cream. I tried to get a photo before they were demolished, but I wasn’t fast enough. The gimmick carries this place, as EVERYTHING fits in with the theme and looks adorable and delicious. My two options on the menu were berry panna cotta and green tea panna cotta. I went with the berry, and it came out looking very pretty in a garden of pink. Tasty, fresh, but nothing out of the ordinary, other than the cuteness factor. For $ 13.50, the amount I got was disappointing, but then, I like my desserts like I like my, well, all kinds of food — large. My man had a simple iced chocolate, which comes out with a tiny pink bow. Again, they have the cuteness down-pat, but it is Hello Kitty, so if they can’t do cute, they can’t do much! He enjoyed his iced chocolate, but at $ 6.50, again it was a little small and flavour-wise nothing exciting. I’d love to give this a higher rating, but the prices were too high. It’s a fun place to go though, especially with children and for people without any dietary issues.

I love this place dearly! I was here once with a friend of mine from Japan and we both loved it here! The décor is so cute, and the panini’s taste so yummy! The chocolate kitty potty pot is really good too, however a little to rich in taste after many spoonfuls! The staff are very friendly here and the atmosphere is lively and upbeat. A really fun place tucked away in Chinatown.

This really is for the most ardent fans of Hello Kitty. The decorations are nice and I loved all the kitty faced desserts served by the café. But though they look pretty, they certainly lacked in taste…

This is the ultimate kitsch café for Hello Kitty freaks. Nestled in Adelaide’s China Town mall this cute, and I mean cute café serves coffee, hello kitty inspired cakes and ice cream. This is a fun place to visit.

Now, this is *not* the sort of place I would usually come to! But we were hanging out with a couple of 8 year olds, and apparently Hello Kitty Café was the only place they wanted to come to! I would actually give this place 3 ½ stars if I could. It was actually much better than I was expecting! Our friend(who had been there before) said to us ‘it doesn’t matter what you order, sweet or savoury … it all tastes sweet and kind of the same’. Yes, that was exactly right! My partner and I ordered some sort of sweet honey toast concoction with green tea ice cream. My teeth hurt just looking at it, but it was surprisingly tasty! The kids loved their chocolately treats. The coffee, however, was very ordinary, as was the service(though that may be because most of the staff could have been students with limited English). Even though this café is fairly newish, the fitout had cute features, but was a bit ‘cheap’ looking. But hey, it’s Hello Kitty so what did I expect??? Would I come back? Hmmm, maybe — but only with kids in tow!

I had the pleasure of eating at Australia’s only Hello Kitty Café whilst in Adelaide for a few days for a conference. It is located in the midst of Adelaide’s Chinatown strip, just outside of the Adelaide Central Market. I was super excited to see so many Hello Kitty shaped items/themed foods on the menu, it is as ridiculously cute as you would expect. I had a Classic Waffle, which was a Hello Kitty shaped waffle topped with berry jam and accompanied by mixed fruits, fresh cream, a dome of icecream, and a vanilla custard topping. The waffle was pretty delicious, and I thought the price tag of $ 12 to be reasonable for what I had. I also downed a latte, that was served in a double walled Hello Kitty glass. The coffee was not fantastic, but passable. I wanted to buy said glass from the stock out the front(there are various bits and pieces for sale), but couldnt find it so was a little sad. Its a novelty for sure, but I am not sure that many Adelaideans would visit it time and time again. More one for the tourists and market goers perhaps.

Well! I’m fascinated by most franchises and Hello Kitty is certainly no exception. Adelaide is so lucky to have such a cute café where everything you can imagine from the glasses, to the foam on your coffees and the top of your dainty cake has Hello Kitty’s trademark face on it. I had the cappuccino and a matcha Crème Brûlée. It tasted lovely, was cooked to perfection and the coffee was lovely too. The staff were very sweet but their English wasn’t very clear which required a certain level of pointing to the menu. No harm done though, it was a very cute interaction, I expect Sanrio made a specific choice about its demographics and target audience when it chose to build in Adelaide’s Chinatown. It really adds to the charm of this place though. For two desserts, two coffees and a pack of 8 small biscuits the total was $ 50. I was quite taken by that being possible which made me realise the price tag on 8 hello kitty stamped biscuits was $ 15! I really, really thought the café was cute, eloquent and such a treat to visit but I’m not sure regular visits can be sustained at those prices. Hello Kitty might need to reevaluate her price offerings or Adelaide might give her the cold shoulder when the fan fare dies down, I’m afraid. Lovely staff, lovely food but can Hello Kitty keep it up with those prices? Not sure that Hello Kitty can lure on Kawaii alone in Adelaide

This place is adorable and wonderful and I love it! It’s been beautifully decked out in Hello Kitty motifs(including on the food!) and feel a little better about life just being inside. You might think, given the nature of the place, that the food would be overly sweet and not particularly interesting but, in fact, it was lovely! A lot of what’s here is a Japanese interpretation of classic Western foods and it is great fun to see old favourites reiterpreted like that. I was dubious when I saw green tea crème brûlée on the menu but I tried some of partner’s and it turned out to be very tasty. They’ve done a great job marrying those flavours. I had the waffles with jam and cream and was very happy with this choice. We had a pot of «Dear Daniel» tea(aka Earl Grey) which was the perfect accompaniment. Will have to go back later and judge the coffee…
