The food is generally good. But the price is too high and the service is not that good… It just doesnt worth the price!

Lunch with colleagues today. Decided on Korean food and settled on Korean Jung. This is the second time I’ve been here. The setting of the restaurant was pleasant. Not a lot of natural light, but the dark red walls do make you feel the warmth of the restaurant. The menu will state the dish name in Korean spelling, and description of the ingredients in English. Today i ordered Pork Deop Bap from the lunch menu. There’s complementary dishes of spring onion pancake and an array of 5 side dishes(Kimchi and pickled cucumbers etc). The spring onion pancake is soft and oily, not crispy, but I’m fine with it. Maybe it’s just how the Korean likes it. There’s four of us and my order came out probably a good 2 – 3 mins after everyone else was served. The dish is basically chopped Pork loin cooked with onions, capsicum, sesame, and chilli(or chilli sauce.) and served with rice. It is considered spicy even by my standards, and I can take spice pretty well.(No no, it won’t numb your tongue, don’t worry :)) The food was good. Not that i eat out at Korean restaurants often enough to know the difference, but the taste is good. The onions and capsicums are finely chopped, pork loin delicious, a bit chewy, but it’s a good mix of fatty and lean meat there. At $ 13 for a lunch meal, served with complementary dishes, this is a pretty good place for lunch if you are looking for Korean cuisine.

I remember stumbling across this place from being in a particularly Asian cuisine mood. A moment of hesitation until I simply relented from my stomach correcting my brain. I had to coin flip between the Bulgogi and the Bibimbap as the recommendation from the waiter had expressed both as being yummy. I went with the ‘Bibi’ and was served up quickly. A delicious mix of fresh vegetables, however lacking in meat. I also was given dumplings, which were a tad on the oily side. I’d never tried Korean but was well satisfied wit the meal at the time Although in hindsight the serving seemed minimal and had a food court ambiance. Nevertheless the service was amiable and the staff were cheerful. It’s tucked away on Leigh St just off Hindley, check it out.

The food at Korea Jung is nice, but not quite good enough to justify the prices for me. Lunch specials are a little more reasonable, but still not the cheapest or tastiest in the east Hindley area. The menu is very helpful, with lots of pictures to give you an idea of what each dish is intended to be like. Simple, colourful décor makes Korea Jung a little more appealing — but to be honest I don’t think it stands out compared to other restaurants in the area or other Korean restaurants in Adelaide. Perhaps this is why I’ve never seen it very crowded. Each meal is served with a selection of pickled vegetables and kimchi, plus a small Korean pancake.
