Myer Centre Adelaide

Such and old school shopping centre! So much Adelaide lore is wrapped up in this stylish little number, whether it be hazy memories of Razzle Dazzle Land, the reason why their are nets stretching as a canopy between the levels or that time that guy did that thing in the level 2 loo. All the little stories make the Myer Centre the big part of Adelaide history it is.
The tall ceilings and ongoing escalators stretch into a selection of small stores and franchises with each level stretching into the Myer Store. The glass lifts are another feature in the centre, I think everyone as ridden the glass elevators from the food court to the Gym on the top floor and experienced the inevitable stomach-​dropping-​into-​your-​stomach moment that these lifts are prone to.
With a few new boutiques on the upper levels, the Myer Centre is undergoing an update and I’m looking forward to a classier shopping centre in the CBD that’s a bit more Rundle Street than Rundle Mall.

This awesomely unattractive building is one of the major hubs in the city where youngsters hang out around the food hall which is in the lower ground floor. There are heaps of different shops here mostly apparel stores, clothing, shoes, and some jewelery shops. The main store is the Myer department store. I know quite a few young people who call the side street here ‘smokers ally’ because that’s where everyone seems to hang around for a cigarette, so it gets pretty stinky, and in recent times a whole lot of ‘street preachers’ have taken to hanging around and screaming ‘sinner’ at the shoppers so be warned, it can get very noisy and smelly. Otherwise, it is a great place to shop.

I come to Myer for the downstairs clothing arena, this is because there are a so many brand’s there to choose from I generally don’t have to go to any other store to find an outfit. Last tuesday however, I was shopping for a birthday dress, firstly I was having one of those days where nothing looked good and secondly, when I asked the girls at the change rooms if they could get me some sizes they flatly refused and said they couldn’t leave their post! excuse me ladies, but isn’t that your job???
The customer service in Rundle Myer is pretty bad.
Also, how expensive do I need to look in order to get a spray of perfume? and the makeup girls? don’t look me up and down ladies because your eye makeup resembles that of a drag show.
As for the rest of the centre, hey it’s pretty great, especially the sushi down in the food court, big fan. I tend not to shop in here though, probably because the main reason I usually come to town is to buy clothing and while there are a few boutiques on a couple of levels I like to pop into the downstairs clothing section of Myer… don’t even get me started.

As far as shopping centres go, this one is pretty good.
I should point out I hate shopping, but being the lovely husband that I am, I usually get roped into going shopping with the wife. Not that I’m much help. I’m usually just left in the food court while she goes off to shop.
That’s okay with me though. Theres lots of good food outlets in the food court, enough to keep me entertained until she gets back.
Theres a fair few other shops here too, some major stores, and lots of smaller specialised stores.

The Myer centre is so much more than just Myer.
It’s like a mini shopping mall smack bang in the middle of Rundle Mall. With over 100 shops, and a decent food court, you can pretty much cover all your shopping in the one place.
You’ve got all your big name fashion stores, jewellers, Lincraft, Myer (obviously), and lots of others. The food court offers you all types of cuisine, coffee shops, donut king, fast food chains. I could go on and on.

Yes I am writing about the Myer Centre. This was my first experience I had with buying a new kitchen appliance, specifically a refrigerator. After experiencing Myer’s appliance home delivery, I feel quite pleased.
Their on-​time arrival was only part of the excellent service.
This one man did all the manual work for me. I didn’t have to do anything except direct him where exactly to put it in the kitchen and sign the papers.
Once he finished, I was delighted to see my new refrigerator in the middle of the kitchen, walked him out of the door, with no damages to the house interior or refrigerator itself. FANTASTIC.
The in-​store experience was wonderful, the fridge works fine, and even customer service was helpful in that she went the extra mile and showed me all the different types of fridges on sale, and at the end of our conversation, informed that I can have a 2 year payment plan rather than one year so that I could it afford it. Department stores always seem to provide top service!
I always go back to Myer if I need to find something very quickly, and they are flexible in their payment plans, especially if you are buying something expensive like a new laptop. Additionally, I found my first actual Apple store! Amazing what unexpected treasures you can find while shopping around. It’s even a great place to buy cheaper items, like extra pairs of much-​needed underwear.
Another thing I love most about being inside here, is that if your mobile connection/​reception is low and not very good outside in the mall, you can step inside the Myer Centre and the Wi-​Fi reception just skyrockets, and you can plan your next move.
