One Hour Hem Stop Shop

This is the first time I have ever reviewed anything. I took my daughters school dress in at the start of first term and it had come undone by the end of first term. That’s 8 weeks of wearing it three days a week. I expected it to be repaired free of charge but was told it was the way she sat in her chair. One of her previous dresses lasted three years without the hem coming undone. The supposed manager/​owner was rude and condescending. Seriously do not use this store!

The allure of having my pants altered while I go shopping some more is just too good to resist! They’ve also rescued me out of a couple shortleggedlongpants emergencies, their friendly staff are always open to flexibility
Recent trip in to have some jeans that had ripped opened, and a couple days later they had been darned back to life, just like new!

Service is always friendly and social. Prices are okay. I’ve been going here for years and several hems have dropped but I’ve taken the garment back in and they’ve had no hesitations fixing ‘em up.
I like that they keep a record on their system. Makes everything too easy.

This place used to be great but the quality of the work and customer service has dropped. Its like they are under new management. Twice hems dropped out after being done here and they tried to blame it on me («sometimes heels catch on them» — I dont wear heels!). At any rate, shopping for an alternative for sure.

With a convenient central location and quick turnaround, the one Hour Hem Stop Shop does exactly what it says on the tin.
Personally I don’t get a huge amount of clothing altered — when it comes to jeans being too long I tend to go for ze «French Cuff». Don’t know what that is? I promise I didn’t just make that up:
But whenever I do need anything taken up or clothing altered, I come here and for one reason — I trust these guys completely. As well as your run of the mill hems, they do more extensive alterations. I needed an amazing designer dress that I nabbed in a sample sale taken in (I bought one size too big), and I was worried about it because a) it was super delicate and b) it was also pretty expensive, and seemed like a big alteration. They gave me great service, a reasonable price and they made it fit LIKE A DREAM.

Dave has provided a thorough and accurate synopsis, and so I would just like to add to the reassurance that is place is ace. Once you have used the services provided here, there is no where else you would want to go back to!
Unlike other shops of its sort, the name is exactly what the store suggests. In my case I simply purchase my pants in the mall, take them here, continue shopping and then return in an hour to pick them up.
For a short girl like me, this shop is like a local convenient store. I would definitely recommend it to others. It is also one of the few hem shops I would trust with a new pair of designer jeans.
My advice, try them.

What can I say? I couldn’t sew a decent hem to save my life and whenever I buy new jeans or pants this is my first port of call because the pants are always too long and I trip easily! My boys have the same problem, and Chakra has such a tiny waist he often has to have his pants taken in because he will not purchase from the ‘boys’ section of the store, only the ‘men’s’ because he is twenty — and «Not a boy!»
My legs have always kept me upright, and managed to reach the ground all through my life, but it’s just not a very long way from my hips to my ankles, not as long as Levi Strauss or Wrangler Jeans always seem to imagine. I’m not big around the waist, and I’m not long in the leg, although as I say my feet do reach the ground.
Sop I go into One Hour Hem Stop Shop and they charge a relatively reasonable fee to fix my hems. It is very simple. I have yet to have a bad experience with them as far as time, cost or provision of service goes. It may seem rather amusing to many people because surely you can just roll the bottom of the pant up al la Huckleberry Finn or any number of nineteen fifties Hollywood icons, but no. I want a pant that ends with a neat hem, not a bunch of rolled up leg.
They do provide other services, like taking in the sides of your waist on a pair of jeans or pants and sewing buttons or fixing broken zips. They are a little bit like the mother or wife who stays at home and sews, cooks, cleans and learns to hate you because of it. Rather than end up with such a dissatisfied female around, I’d rather go here; and they are always friendly, helpful and honest about what they are doing for you.
The things to remember are: They are open seven days a week. They do the hem in one hour, and if they can not they will be honest about that with you — but I have always had mine done in one hour, so I’ve never been left walking the streets in my underwear for more than an hour! (That was a joke) You can also get stuff dry cleaned via the shop. They do more than just hems. It is a full alteration service.
