Tucked away in the far corner of the Gilbert St IGA is Prestige Meats — but other than being a brilliant butcher, they also do a raging trade in lunch and dinner offerings — there’s usually three ‘saucy’ dishes, often curry, chinese, strog, thai, mustardy chicken and the like, plus roast lamb & pork, crumbed squid, lasagna/sheps pie/canneloni — all $ 8 a serve. Roasts come with chips, the sauce dishes come with rice, and there’s a daily soup for $ 5. Lunch is pretty much all gone by 2pm, which is when it officially finishes anyway, but the take home dinner offerings are every bit as popular and start late afternoon. Plenty of parking in the IGA carpark, and some right out the front if you’re in a hurry. For an easy, economical lunch, this is the place to go — recommended.
