From what I understood, Say Cheese and The Smelly Cheese Shop, which is right next to it, are actually the same shop but divided into two stalls with different names. Anyway, it doesn’t matter because even if it had no name at all it would still be my favourite place in the Central Markets. They sell an amazing selection of cheese, ranging from every possible price(up to something ridiculous like 80 bucks per kilo) to almost every country of origin. The focus lies on Australia, Tasmania, France and Holland though, I would say. If you want something different than what you can find at supermarkets, Say Cheese caters for all your needs. If you’re a fan of foie gras(duck liver pâté), they stock the famous — and one of the best brands in my opinion — Labeyrie. Unfortunately you pay heaps more than what you would pay for it in France, around 50 dollars, but it’s always good to know that it’s available here.

Say Cheese is probably the biggest cheese stall in the markets. They have a huge range of both local and imported cheeses, as well as cheese accompanyments, such a quince and fig paste and crackers. Say Cheese has free cheese tastings on Thursdays, Fridays and, Saturdays(my favorite way to sample cheese) although it can be a bit sporadic so you have to luck out. Prices vary according to quality and the nature of the cheese, but you can be pretty sure to find something good for a reasonable price. Unless you are looking for dodgy cheddar or kraft singles, they’ll probably have what you are looking for.
