Secure Parking – Rundle Place

My god, this must be the most expensive car park I’ve been to in my life. Okay, maybe not the most expensive but definitely very close. They charge you $ 11 for 1 – 2 hours, $ 17 for 3 and up it goes.
Yes, it’s convenient because you can walk out of the car park and be right in Rundle Mall. I’d recommend going to UPark though, they’re generally a few bucks cheaper and there is one just opposite Target on Rundle St, maybe a few minutes walk from this one.

Purely on location, this car park is excellent. Located a hop, skip and a jump away from Rundle Mall its cost is competitive. When I say competitive, I mean in comparison to other car parks near the mall, compared to other CBD car parking, it isn’t great at all. The carpark opening hours seem to be dictated by mall trading hours, but it’s ok because it allows for plenty of time for you to head back to your car after finishing your shop.
There are two exits when leaving this car park. One will take you on to Grenfell Street proper via stairs. The other exit uses lifts which take you to Lindes Lane and then Rundle Mall. This carpark used to be attached to Harris Scarfe’s and no doubt will be again once it has been rebuilt, but from the looks of things, that won’t be anytime soon.
If driving east down Grenfell, the entrance to the carpark is just beyond the scaffolding to your left.
I have never had anything stolen from my car in this car park, and whilst there is supposedly security, there does not appear to be cameras and the car park makes it clear they accept no responsibility for your belongings. To be on the safe side, either take your valuables with you or hide them.
Trying to leave the car park at knock-​off time (about 5−6pm) is a bit hectic as in addition to shoppers, many professionals obviously park here and can’t wait to get home.
What is evermore decreasing in this day and age is non-​robotic pay machines, i.e. humans, but those are the life forms that will raise those boom gates for you, and do it politely and on occasion even cheerily.
