The Reject Shop

This reject shop is filled with delicious treats, be they cheap lollies, cheap wrapping paper or everyday household items.
This is a pretty crowded spot. I would avoid it for sure during your lunch break, mayhem. And the single up/​down escalators mean there is no easy escape if claustrophobia overcomes you.
This place is pretty good for things you do need and buy anyway, staples I think they call them, they’re cheap here. Like dish washing liquid (go earth it’s good for the I’m earth) it’s half the price and the same stuff, toothpaste, deodorant, soap etc.
This spot is especially good for usually expensive items such as present bags, you could pay $ 5 upwards at a news agents or a fancy place like the myer centre, but here you can get a decent card, wrapping paper and a gift box for under $ 5 if you so wish.
On the downside I dare you to go in buy these essentials and not leave with 10 monkey shaped air freshers or the like, because it was so cheap! Why not?

I come to the Reject Shop for cheap staples like cleaning supplies, laundry products and toiletries. They also have a large range of food and homewares. It’s worth a look to potentially save money on your favourite brands, or perhaps something even cheaper if you don’t mind off-​brand products.

Look what I got at the Reject Shop! It’s probably not going to last long, nor will it be of much practical use to me but why wouldn’t you buy something here when most stock is under $ 10!
I have always used this place as my «go to when I don’t want to spend much money on something I’m probably going to use once» store.
If you’re looking for storage items, dress ups, candles, air fresheners, photo frames, bulk crappy sweets, toys or birthday cards this is a great place to start.
As Erin said though, if you’re looking for a more specific item or something you want to last, this probably isn’t the place for you!

Look, I wouldn’t buy my jewellery here, and I certainly wouldn’t pop in to pick up, say, a skydiving parachute or rock climbing harness, but when it comes to Christmas decorations, candles and candleholders, kitty litter or laundry hampers, you can’t go wrong.
One other thing: sometimes their food items are clearly a recognisable brand (ie Excel gum, Cadbury chocolates) but come in packaging written in another language. Even though I know the brand, I’ve found these types of items to be a bit… icky. I’m not sure if they are just a bit old or are produced differently in whatever countries they have arrived from, but I wouldn’t recommend picking up an afternoon snack at good ol’ RS. Those hair ties you’ve been eyeing, though? Go for it.

As the title suggests, this is a store full of reject stock at super cheap prices, so expect exactly that when you’re entering. You don’t come here for quality goods, you come here for with $ 5 and walk out with several items.
As far as Reject Shops go, the Rundle Mall one is one of the best. Although it’s not the biggest I’ve ever had, it still knows how to please. Yes, I somehow managed to squeeze some sexual innuendo in there. Did I mention the entrance is a tight squeeze, and you’ll have to watch your head?
You can pretty much find anything in here, wrapping paper, cards, food, pet stuff, clothes, toys, stationary, craft gear, cleaning products, everything your cheap heart can desire. I usually pick up cheap canvas’s and wrapping paper here, and then pick up a handful of other junk I don’t need because I can’t help myself.

There is some terrible, terrible stuff in here. But there’s some pretty good stuff too. And it’s cheap. Things like wrapping paper, cards and that sort of stuff, it’s just so cheap. I mean, in most stores, birthday cards are beginning to cost as much as the presents that accompany them in some cases.
Then there’s the pet toys. While I don’t buy the stuff that’s sold as pet treats, the toys keep my dog and cats endlessly amused. And you can get batteries pretty cheap too. Really, there’s some awesome stuff.
This store is pretty typical of the whole experience. Service is okay, maybe a bit slow when it’s busy, and there aren’t many staff roaming the store to help customers, but how much help do you really need?

This afternoon, I spent it Unilocaling and shopping with my best friend and overall, had a pretty good day catching up with her.
It was fast approaching 5pm, when I suddenly remembered one last thing! Zing! I told my best friend that I needed one more thing before I went home. I told her: «Xmas shopping makes me go nuts sometimes! Figuring out what to get my loved ones is half the battle, and then having to find a shop that actually sells decent wrapping paper!!»
My best friend resorted to taking me to this store and she found for me a nice Xmas box for only $ 2. She said after with a very serious expression, «The Reject Shop never fails. You don’t need to buy much this Xmas, or need expensive wrapping paper.» (Note that because I only had notes, when I opened up my wallet, my countless 5cents coins flew up in the air, and all over the ground. How embarassing! It had to happen in the Reject shop, out of all stores! Luckily my best friend helped with the picking up of all my silver Aussie coins and we recovered quickly!) I gave this store an extra star, because from time to time I do find this store useful when running low on funds.
As self-​confident and highly independent as I am, we can all benefit big time with the extra wisdom, support and help from our best friends, especially over this Xmas holiday season, when most of us have hit hard financial times. Remember that.

If you don’t like this store now, then perhaps wait until the recession starts kicking in… Just playing.
There are reasons why I have been coming here for years, and those reasons are because of the birthday cards and gift-​wrap. Why spend $ 6.95 on a birthday card when you can by one for 75 cents here? Right?
The name itself implies that one may find a bit of junk within this underground cellar, but let it be known that it is very cheap junk. Photo albums and frames are also a good saving when purchased from this particular reject.
The biggest down side is the time you may have to wait in line for purchases. There are about two registers open at any given time, and many of the customers like to take their sweet ass time taking the coins out of their purses ever so slowly. Ah, I guess it sort of adds to the stores charm. Sort of.

Cheap as Chips 2.0, or it may be the other way around, I’m not sure, but it’s essentially the same.
Plenty of bric-​à-​brac and cheap bits and pieces.
The perfect place to get gifts for your loved ones (Insert sarcasm here).
But really, it is a handy store to have in the mall, not as frustrating to get to as the Cheap as Chips out yonder.
I find myself going there to buy wrapping paper or sticky tape or the kinds of things that don’t NEED to be of superior quality.
The staff are no doubt in borderline slave labor. Please be forgiving if they do not have those fake cheery retail smiles you have come to love from other stores.
Cheap products, and cheap service, but that is to be expected.

The reject shop stocks all manner of dodgy and wholesale garbage. If you are looking for that special something for that special someone, and don’t want to spend more than $ 2 then this is the ideal place for you.
You can bulk buy boxes of mee-​goreng and imitation coca-​cola if you wish to subsist, on a very unhealthy budget.
Did you see that news programme about the house which burnt down after the christmas tree caught alight? I wonder where they purchased those faulty decorations?
I have bought canvass from here before, mainly for experiments and exercises. Whist quite cheap, the quality is very poor and prone to tearing. The stretcher bars are also liable to snap if put under any amount of pressure, however, it is a bit of lucky dip as some of them are absolutely fine.
