An unexpected gem on the esplanade of Aldinga Beach, we stumbled across this café while waiting for Indian takeaway next door. We came back the following day for lunch with the kids & felt really relaxed sitting on the deck tables and served by friendly staff. The kids were treated well, with a $ 10 kids menu, but we didn’t even need to order from the kids menu today because kids get chips or wedges free with each adult meal. My husband had the Fleurieu seafood basket($ 19.80) and I had the salt & lemon pepper squid($ 14.90). Both meals came with chips & a Greek salad. The seafood basket came with tartare sauce and Thai dipping sauce for the squid. The seafood was cooked perfectly! The calamari was so tender & flavorsome that both my toddler kids just gobbled them down. The wedges were crispy on the outside & fluffy on the inside — perfecto! At those prices and quality of seafood, AND view, we might just have to return one more time before this beach vacation is over.

Sit down. Take a load off. Relax on the deck in the sunshine and sip on a Swell Brewery beer while you wait for your fully loaded pizza to arrive. Both times I have made the trip to Aldinga to go to Saltbush I haven’t been disappointed. One time I brought a group with me for beers on the deck and the proprietor gave us free garlic bread. The other time we ordered pizzas that were so covered in topping that they all fell off. Not that we minded of course, they were tasty. Make this a part of your trip down south.

Had a really great lunch at Saltbush on Sunday, 20⁄10. I had the best salt and pepper squid ever, just perfection! Mum-in-law had beer battered fish and chips, she swooned! Friendly staff, great view over the ocean, excellent coffee, highly recommended!
