Having had no prior experience with steam cleaning carpets, now was the time to educate myself. My dog had eaten something and proceeded to surprise us early in the morning with vomit all over the carpet in 3 of our rooms and outside… but not on the tiles… smart dog(not). So after cleaning and scrubbing, we threw the towel in(literally) and rang a few places. This place was willing to come down in price(usually $ 150 for 2 rooms) to $ 125 and had an odour blocker, plus won some business of the year award, so we thought let’s give them a go. Debbie whom I spoke to on the phone said that it would cost $ 125 and they could get someone out on the same day and get rid of all the smells infesting my carpet plus if there was any smell left, they would come back free of charge. So we were all excited when the tech turned up and steam cleaned our carpets, they smelt clean… and were supposed to dry within 1 – 3 hours but no… after they were cleaned, maybe it was the humidity? They were dank smelling because it was humid, they were in a room and wet still. We were a bit worried so we rang them and they said, if we could really smell it they would be back. So after a day we rang them and said, our carpets were still a bit stinky. The same guy came back and told us that we were supposed to be charged for a 2nd call out, and supposed to be charged $ 250 and if there’s a smell that won’t go away, it probably won’t go away no matter how much they cleaned it. And no, they usually charged $ 100 to come back out. He then told us how he had really revved the ladies in the office for giving out false information and reluctantly said ‘what did you want me to do?’. He was really good about cleaning the carpets again and put more citrus on it to hopefully block the smell… and when we asked him about the dank mouldy smell, his reply was ‘well, it shouldn’t be like that’… which was a bit well… let’s face it, it didn’t sit well with us. So now we have dank smelling carpets and we’re trying to open doors and windows but it’s been 2 days now and we aren’t very happy about this whole steam cleaning business. Don’t know if we’ll call them again or use steam cleaners again in general. Although the guy did a great job, I think he could have approached us in a different way… maybe he was grumpy and tired?
