I could go into Cumquat books just to smell that beautiful scent of old books and varnished wood. This quaint little book shop seems like something from days gone by with its wooden railings and ladder for reaching higher shelves.
Unfortunately, it’s not a shop in which I feel particularly comfortable browsing. Situated in a residential area, I get the feeling it doesn’t attract much foot traffic. On a recent visit, the shopkeeper (owner?) seemed almost put out that she had customers in store.
Cumquat does pride itself on stocking hard-​to-​find books, so perhaps this is really a place for those who know what they’re looking for.
