Great customer service. Food was delicious. Very resonable price. Has a nice court yard. Really friendly.

Food in Ashfield has been a disappointing as foodie suburb so far with New Shanghai the only one to be half decent. Thai Number One was the next stop. The place is quaint and has that family ran feeling. Most people take-​away.
PAD THAI CHICKEN $ 12.50 (with one prawn)
Funny: with one prawn. That’s exactly the description on the menu. When the dish arrived, it had exactly one prawn, at least they are honest. The Pad Thai was of a good standard and value. Of course it wasn’t not the best ever but still very good for Ashfield.
MASSAMAN BEEF CURRY $ 12.50 (The most famous Thai curry cooked with potato mild curry sauce)
The massaman curry was the dish of the day. The beef was super tender and fell apart with a spoon. The result was a stringy meat in a well-​balanced sauce. The latter wasn’t overly sweet but still had a slight kick of chilli. The potatoes were cooked to breakdown point. This dish was the ultimate comfort food on a cold winter’s night served with rice.

One of the best Thai milk teas after Green Peppercorn. It was well balanced and not too sweet. The signature robust tea taste was there. This is the perfect reliever if you are less chili tolerant.
Conclusion
Thai Number One is one of the better local dining options in the area. It is a no non-​sense Thai restaurant that served great value food efficiently and more importantly tasty for most palettes. It is catered to a general audience as it isn’t overly spicy. I will be a regular at this place as they seemed to be one of the better Thai places around Ashfield. They are also on Menulog (look out for vouchers).

We were here on a voucher and had a limited menu. The food was brought out quickly and it was very good too. It is such a tiny place and there was not a spare table in the short time we were there. Also, the passing parade of takeaways never stopped. The parking is a nightmare. This place is really for the locals. It does not accept credit cards and only does cash. The wait staff are very polite and everything seems efficiently done. After looking at the real menu and seeing what we were offered tonight, just not so sure it was a bargain.

The restaurant is small and cosy. There is only 3 people working with 1 waiter. There are only around 5 tables of 4 – 6 people, so it was a little slow as more people started to order. The whole restaurant is self service galore. From drinks to plates to cutlery. Entrée was ok, if your looking for fancy, high class service, then this is not the place for you. The plates were plastic and so looked cheap. The Pad Thai was nice but similar to other restaurants, not worth it for $ 13. Overall, it was an ok experience.
