I absolutely love this restaurant! It has brilliant vibes, is close to the Balaclava Train station and has amazing food. The restaurant has been crafted from an old Victorian house, rooms of which are still in their original form, apart from the décor. They have a bar style eating arrangement for singles or couples, as well has large tables for groups. The food is just brilliant and just wreaks of authenticity. My boyfriend and I have been many times and still want to go back for more. Definitely recommend the whole experience, and by that I mean try their pitchers of cocktails. Yummmmy! Have I mentioned their food is finger licking good? Hmm hmmm

Went there to celebrate my birthday last month, haven’t had the time and leave a review till now. But I still think of the possibly best tacos in Australian soil. This tacos took me right back home, the salsas, the Lemon slices, the plates and even the service. Oh and how can I forget the beer list… Simply highly recommend and worth the travel if you live in the west.

Never again eating there! It has turned me off Mexican for now, just a bad experience and some of the worst tacos I’ve eating.

Cute and quirky atmosphere — the place was quite obviously once a home so the dining areas are sectioned off into rooms. We were in the smaller room upstairs — only negative thing about this was we did get forgotten about after being seated. I had to hunt down a waitress after 15 minutes to get a menu. But that can be forgiven, it was a busy Friday night after all. Once we had the menus the service was pretty quick. We shared a plate of homemade corn chips(great for that gluten free friend we all have!) and guac then each had a burrito. Delicious and not so huge we felt the need to roll home like a burrito ourselves. My friend got one very delicious looking Margherita in a super quirky jar(as is all the rage these days right?). Will be back I’m sure!

I love this place and feel very fortunate it’s a short walk from home. Everything is delicious, fresh and tasty. Oooh if you like it hot, you must try the house made hot sauce — so good! BYO wine with a seat at the bar is my usual approach, chatting to the staff and watching my meal being cooked in the open kitchen. They do have beer & cocktails available as well. The menu selection allows for a quick snack or a full meal — all delivered quickly and sans the cheese & salsa mountains.

This is the first time I’ve been impressed with Mexican food in Melbourne. The flavours are all present with the right amount of seasoning. The guac is delicious and comes with delicious chips. Portions are a good size too. They have a bit to learn about customer service but the extra time can be spent drinking margaritas, so that’s all good too.

Yum! But on a slightly different angle. They do a thing called the Cubana here; which is perfect for when you can’t decide, as it has a little bit of everything mixed inside. Modern Mexican I suppose, as I’ve never come across a similar dish anywhere; It’s basically a Mexican baguette sandwich. Except on this one, all the flavours are really yummy, and it has super awesome yummy cheese in it. It’s a fresh soft cheeses, but its so tasty. In a baguette with all the fillings in one~! Si Señor also stock a great range of flavoured soda’s, so one is never stuck for a good non-alcohloic drink. The taco’s are quite good too; The corn soft shell is amazing, and most of the flavours work. particularly pork and pineapple and the steak/Chorizo combo. This place has a rustic edge to it, and it work well; it’s shows age and wear, but there are also splashes of colour, and things are not overly done. Yummy time Mexican food!

This is probably the best or second best real Mexican place in MEL. I had the steak burro which I recommend. Chips and guac were good. Service a was friendly and fast. And I thought the restaurant was really nice… was unsure as we walked in. Cash only.

What can I say. I’m glad there is a decent and affordable taco place. Tacos are small but at $ 5 a pop you can load up of 2 – 3. But the burritos are a meaty delight wrapped on soft(even fluffy!) corn wraps. They are amazing. The problem is I find it difficult to fit burritos and tacos in the same meal! The staff are friendly and the décor is cool — although some of the upstairs table are way to big for 4 people!

I love Melbourne’s obsession with Mexican. Never again do we have to suffer the giant plates of slop we were served at Tex-Mex chains as a kid. I have never been to Mexico myself, so I’m no expert on authenticity that some people are real sticklers for. All I know is that Si Señor has a cute little space on the Balaclava side of Carlisle St, serving up some super fresh and delicious Mex fare. Their El Pastor(pork and pineapple) is incredibly good. The pork is so delicious and moorish, we could have eaten it all day. The tacos are two small mouthfuls so there’s plenty of opportunity to try them all or fill up on their giant corn cobs first. If I were going back(and I will for sure), I’d go straight for the burritos. I’m not normally a fan of burritos, having been scarred by the aforementioned tex-mex of times past, but these are so fresh and amazing. At $ 12 they are enough for one, but served cut in half if you want to share alongside some other bits and pieces. There’s no liquor license at the moment, but they do allow BYO. This isn’t the place I would suggest you come to linger a while though. The service was pleasant, but pretty woeful. We struggled to get anyone’s attention to ask for every little thing — plates, napkins, hot sauce, more food — we were largely ignored and had to wait a while to eat food sitting in front of us because we weren’t served the basic essentials to actually eat. At the end of the meal, we had to ask for the bill several times, before then being asked what we ordered. Lucky for them we are honest, no one was keeping track of us so we could have told them anything. All in all, I would tip this as an excellent choice for a quick bite to eat or place for casual eats to satisfy a craving for Mexican. I know my partner will be bugging me to go back for those burritos and I won’t be putting up any fight. P.S Almost forgot to add — they have an unmarked bottle of hot sauce that will melt your face if you can find it!
