Great location and nice building. Food was average. Ordered chicken Parma and bruschetta. Chicken was flat, deep fried and crumbed and chips were hollow and tasteless. Bruschetta was some poultry roll cut with 2 tomatoes, cheese And lettuce. Nothing seasoned and had no taste. Aioli also had no taste.

Three stars is a generous rating — closer to 2.5. You can not fault the view, easy parking, surrounding atmosphere — perfect! The service was good — friendly and polite. We ordered our food, sat down outside and a few minutes later the waiter came out and told us they had run out of the breakfast pie, so perhaps not so «housemade»?- replaced with pancakes. When the waiter brought our drinks out he spilt my juice across the table and made no attempts to wipe it down — no apology no recognition he’d just spilt juice right where we were about to eat. Mmm. Maybe I’m fussy, but at this point we were two of four people in the place. Sooo. The food LOOKED promising. There was quite a bit of toast and bacon(two of each); scrambled egg serve was small compared to what was on the plate. The whole thing was completely average. No taste. Eggs were«meh». Pancakes were the same — dry as, a scraping of Nutella on the top pancake and a mound of hazelnuts. It wasn’t «send back food» just disappointing. All up this place was ok — I mean their prices are not bad(14.90 for egg/bacon/toast) and you know what they say«you get what you pay for» — just a shame that the presentation and«false fanciness»(from the outside) of the place makes you think that you will get a great treat and experience here. If you must come — do so for the view and atmosphere and perhaps just grab a coffee or something…

Fantastic views abound at this lakeside restaurant. Food is good and the lunch menu is very affordable. Breakfast is on par with most places in Ballarat. Pipers can get very busy and it seems to be a favourite of the older dining establishment. Having said that, I’ve also noticed a number of younger patrons when I’ve visited, although they are in the minority. Service is very prompt but can get slow depending on how full the restaurant is at the time. I would suggest calling ahead if you have a group larger than 2 and on weekends. Also a great place to go for a quick coffee and cake with great views.

Great view, outdoor seating by the lake available. Food ok, but the view is what you come here for. Great for a brunch.
