Gorgeous café in a character building. There’s outdoor seating for lovely sunny days or sit inside in the air con. My suggestion is the window seating where you can people watch. The café serves a variety of cakes and slices and has some very appetising pancakes on their menu. I had the Thai fish cake for lunch which was quite nice. I spied also a calamari burger(day special) that looks just delicious! I suggest you go for their daily specials as they seem to be great. Coffee was good and creamy and the café also sells some local produce. The café seems to be quite busy with locals and hospital staff(nearby). I don’t live in the Ballarat area so can’t say how this café compares to others but Definitely a good pit stop if you are driving on this route.

Stopped here for breakfast yesterday morning and was not disappointed! Awesome food, coffee and customer service. We will remember this place next time we’re traveling and make it our food stop for sure. Best scrambled eggs I’ve had :)

It was an accidental discovery on a recent road trip in country Victoria. Walking into The Turret is like walking into a chic character home with roaring fire places, stylish décor and amazing high ceilings. I ordered the Vegetarian breakfast, which I thought just sounded like glorified scrambled eggs. Um… no. The flavours in this breakfast was like no other breakfast I have ever eaten in Australia. Yes this is a big call, but it is true. My friend and I were both silent through our meal because it was just so tasty. The coffee and juice were great. The staff were accommodating and although they were busy, the food was delivered quickly and without a fuss. The experience was kind of like visiting a favourite Aunty’s house and being treated to her amazing hospitality. Love it! Can’t say for sure I will be back, Ballarat is not on my normal list of places to drive through.

I love any place that is cycle friendly. I like this place. Great interior, excellent friendly staff, good food, slightly high prices but massive portions. Would definitely go again. Oh — get the French Toast. Don’t ask just order.
