Brioche Bakery and Café is an artisan bakery and café.

We specialise in organic sourdough bread, spelt bread and rye bread as well as sourdough pastry products, which are all baked onsite. We use a traditional slow ferment method, with no commercial «improvers», making our bread taste better and easier to digest.

We also offer quality take home meals made daily, that are preservative free, low GI, gluten free and dairy free.

We also offer catering packages or we can customise your catering to suit your specific requirements.

The owner, Fiona, puts so much attention to the quality and taste of Brioche. I can’t say enough about the curried egg sandwich but there is so much more. The food is fresh and healthy. The breads are baked daily and are low in GI, gluten and dairy free. The healthy menu doesn’t sacrifice taste but does the opposite by providing a delicious array of meals, pasteries and breads. Fiona is always looking to improve and perfect the experience and you will often find some new items on display or on the specials on the menu.

I love this café. Found it by chance and now I’m working my way through the wholesome and «freshly made on premises» menu.
Like the previous reviewer, I also thought the coffee a little weak. I mentioned it to the owner Fiona, she’s very hands-​on, and she’s since changed roasters and I can vouch that it is much improved.
Oh the fresh breads. Heavenly. Each time I take home a different sourdough — this week is is spelt /​brown rice. It’s so good I struggle to stop after 2 slices.
I love the variety and constantly changing items in the display/​fridge cabinet, all so beautifully (and tastefully) presented. It’s so visually appealing that I overeat every time I go there, resulting in a «doggy bag» and I get to experience a bit of Brioche the next day too.

As a café they have great coffee (blend is free trade, organic and very creamy –might be a bit weak for some coffee drinkers.) and the BLT was delicious. Really its the fresh bread that tops it off and the tasty house-​made aioli.
They have a great range of bread with a big focus on gluten free food, pastries and loaves to take home.
Highly recommend for people with gluten intolerance– a good additional to the Balmain community!
