Specialties
Off road 4WD adventure tours. Tag-a-long tours, winery tours, gold fossicking, historical and fishing tours. We cater for individuals, family and small groups. See the Australian bush on a Detour Adventures one day tour. We can adapt our tours to create something individual just for you.
We explore the local mountains ranges of the western Great Dividing Range, Sunny Corner, Jenolan and Lidsdale State Forests and the many National Parks around our area such as Abercrombie River, Kanangra-Boyd and Blue Mountains.
Our tours are predominantly one day tours. We pick you up at around 8.30a, from the Bathurst Visitors Information Centre (1 Kendall Ave Bathurst) and have you back on time at around 4.30pm.
If you want complete luxury, we can provide lunch for you, or you can bring your own. We provide morning and afternoon tea where applicable.
If you have a special interest, we can help. Photography? fishing? maybe you’re an artist. Let us know. Want a professional tour? call us.
History
Established in 2013.
Detour Adventures started in 2013. However the origins of this family business date back to 1923 when Ian Redpath’s grandfather started a tour business taking Guests from Katoomba to Jenolan Caves each day. Guests enjoyed a great day out. Now, some 90 years later, the aim is still the same; to take Guests out for a great day.
Things these days are more comfortable than in 1923… You can enjoy your tour in a new state of the art Toyota Land Cruiser, the largest and most comfortable vehicle in it’s class.
With plenty of room for taller people, and air conditioning to each row of seats, this vehicle is quiet, comfortable and safe.
You’ll have a wonderful day off road. We can take up to 7 Guests so you are assured your tour is private, not mass produced.
We also do tag-a-long tours, fishing, camping, fossicking, historical tours and name your own tours. Tell us what you’d like to do and we’ll do our best to make your tour as individual as you are.

Business Owner
Escape today on a Detour Adventure, holder of Advanced Ecotourism certification and a T-Qual accredited operator.
I was born and grew up in the Blue Mountains of NSW, Australia. Bush surrounded me all my growing up years and now I’m taking Guests and visitors off road to experience what I’ve enjoyed my whole life.
My favourite sports at school were bushwalking and bike riding. My first car was a 4×4, hence my love for off road 4WDing now with Detour Adventures.
I also have a private pilot’s license with a night and instrument rating and have enjoyed flying my family all around Australia. I’ve got some great stories to share with Guests on tour and love hearing about the lives and experiences of our Guests as we travel off road.
Why choose an off road tour with Detour Adventures? I’ve been driving 4WD vehicles for over 30 years and know this part of the world very well. I love taking people out on a Detour Adventure to see and experience the Australian bush first hand.
