The main café at curtin is generally my go to food outlet on campus. Not necessarily because of the high quality of food or service — although it’s not terrible, it’s the price. During semester the main café has a different food special every day including pasta, beef curry and fish and chips in a solid size for about $ 5 for guild. These meal are cheap as, but you definitely pay for it in grease and oil quantity. Jamie Oliver would not approve. The sandwich and salad menu is awesome and you can make your own deadly rolls for under $ 8 which fill even the fattest man(me) up.

I avoid most of Curtin’s eateries, because they stock your basic fast-food and sugary energy drinks. I refuse to believe that eating on a budget should equate to artery clogging, preservative laden crap, and Curtin University’s Main Café appears to be supporting me on this mission. It’s a fairly modest cafeteria, kind of the like the ones you see on American TV shows. If you want some healthy nosh, skip their Baine Marie and opt for the self serve salad/sandwich bar. They’ve got a range of breads, but none gluten free unfortunately. Sad face. However, their salad selection is awesome and very accommodating to those with particular dietary requirements. I usually pile up a large container with felafel, couscous salad, beetroot, tomato, carrot, spinach, and tomato relish. Occasionally I go overboard so they slap on a $ 1 surcharge, but that’s cool by me if I get a mountain of food for less than $ 10! I think I pay around about that for my gigantic lunches. Guild members get them for cheaper, so I recommend joining because you get gigantic discounts pretty much everywhere on campus.
