Fresh Provisions

I love buying food here because it guarantees quality, even though it is a tad pricey for a student such as myself. They have nice pastries and I always buy my fruit there because it tastes 100 times better than Coles.

As with any convenience store things can be pricey, however not so for the hot pork or beef rolls you get from the carvery here. Stuffed with meat and a nice roll, outstanding value.

This is a great little supermarket with a good range of food to buy ‘when on the go’ from prepared salads, chopped fruit, pastries, rolls and savoury food.
A great range of fruit and vegetables, a small selection of quality meats. Fresh Provisions is great to buy quality and unique brands, perfect for dinner parties and the festive seasons.
They also have a nice range of flowers.

Fresh Provisions is the upmarket supermarket for the foodies in Perth. It is the place to go if you are looking for some different or unusual for one of your culinary masterpieces. Upmarket and unusual = pricey and expensive.
This is a place that us mere mortals could afford to do all their food shopping at. The prices are just too high. But if you are in to cooking and need that particular spice or herb this is the place.
They do have a nice range of ready to eat type meals. The deli is packed full of the gourmet cheeses you would expect somewhere like this to have. The staff are an interesting mix of uni student and the more mature. The service you receive is very much pot luck.

Fresh Provisions is one of those stores that you take for granted until you move to another suburb as I did a couple of years ago. Now that I’m back in the area, it’s one of my regular haunts, collecting as it does all the odd, hard-​to-​find ingredients that pop up when you’re cooking, great takeaway food, an epic soft drink selection, bakery, greengrocers’ and a good selection of cheese. It’s open fairly late, so I generally combine visits here for cheese and associated snacks with a stop at Jumbo to score some bad horror films for the night.
In tonight’s case though, I decided not to cook dinner and picked up some tikka masala and vindaloo from their deli section. They were both delicious, spicy enough that I could enjoy it but not so bad that everyone else in the family was freaking out (I am the only person who enjoys spicy food in this house). I also picked up a nice bunch of hothouse flowers for my wife for $ 12, which is pretty cheap in this area!
You can spend a lot of money in here without realizing, as some of the gourmet items are rarer and pricier than you’d expect. That being said, I’ve never been charged too far beyond what I would expect for the kind of items I buy; it’s just the nature of the kind of supermarket it is.
Checkout service varies from awesome to lousy, but the people in the deli section are always very helpful. As it’s basically an upscale supermarket, that’s to be expected.
If you’re into cooking or eating awesome food and live in the area, it’s a good idea to get familiar with what’s on the shelves of this place. It’s nice to know that when you run out of a nonstandard ingredient that you can pick it up around the corner.

If one day you should happen to wake up with a distinct hankering for poached quail’s eggs with a side of Lavosh Things smothered in orange and pomegranate hummus, served with a fresh cup of Toby’s Estate coffee and bio-​dynamic almond milk, Fresh Provisions is your first point of call.
This delicatessen/​green grocer is a supermarket, but not as we know it. A clear favourite amongst East Fremantle/​Bicton gastronomers, they provide an amazing variety of gourmet products from both overseas and local suppliers. I’ve found food here I didn’t even know existed. What on earth is lime pressed vinegar? How on earth do you make flour out of coconuts? How is a Sicilian sausage any different from an Australian? I don’t know who eats this stuff but I do wish they’d invite me over for tea.
Fresh Provisions is of the same ilk as Kakulas, but they differentiate with a lack of whole foods, and a surplus of gourmet oils, vinegars, specialty chocolates, gluten free products, cheeses, anti pasto platters, WA quality meats and bouquets of fresh flowers to top it all off. Everything is displayed like giant edible towers. Definitely the place to go if you’re up for turning your regular grocery shop into an adventure!
