Literally a hole in the wall, this inconspicuous Italian eatery makes one thing well, Italian flatbread pizza. I have been going here for 4 years and still get my regular #5: spicy salami, superfresh, thinly sliced spanish onions and melting, creamy stracchino. Always a treat.

Quesadilla meets calzone at La Piadina, a hole in the wall diner that serves its namesake Italian flatbread stuffed with various delicious fillings. There is only space inside for a handful of people plus a few stools out the front on warmer days, but meals arrive quickly so the table turnover rate is pretty fast. There are about ten different piadina filling options. We started with the pancetta, provolone and baby spinach dressed with a balsamic reduction, which was really good but as each of these folded pita things is quite thin we ended up ordering three to share between two people. To finish, they serve nutellini — little dumplings filled with nutella, warmed up on the grill, dusted with icing sugar and placed inside a tiny paper cone for you to carry on your merry way. Not only is their food amazingly cheap, but they are BYO so you can swing by the bottle shop at the Beach Road across the way before sitting down for dinner — and they keep space in the little fridge to chill whites if necessary.

If you’re in Bondi and looking for a healthy tasty good food for bad people, then you’ll love this hall in the wall type eatery. Specializing in Piadina’s, which are small and soft flat break baked in a terracotta pot, original hailing from Emilia-Romagna in Northern Italy. Similar to a quesadilla, but not as small, and with more ingredients, and not as thick or full as a calzone, it’s kind of an italian mid weight, effortlessly making something new and different . Everyone in this small eclectic dinosaur inspired eatery seems to know each other, call it the Bondi culture. So if you’re puzzled as to whether to order the No 7: Pancetta, provolone, baby spinach, balsamic glaze $ 13 or No 5: salami nduja, stracchino, spanish onion $ 13, then ask the person to your left, they should know. As an italian establishment, their coffee is great too, and tap water is served in these great Grolsch beer bottles, just to be fancy.
