This is my cheap and cheerful local sushi joint, and I adore the fact that for under $ 20 and 20 minutes, I can stuff my face with delicious salmon sashimi, edamame and seaweed salad.(Heads up: tuna seems to be a rarity, so probably not the spot for you if maguro is your go-to.) It’s absolutely tiny, so naturally it does a lucrative take-away business. But it’s also perfect for a lunch on your own — grab a seat at the bar and enjoy the open-windowed view of Campbell Parade.

I guess I’m a pretty no-nonsense kind of person. I don’t have time to wander aimlessly around shops or food– I’m usually in a rush to get somewhere else. So I despise the fact that so many shops now don’t have clearly marked pricing and I consider it a deliberate means of trickery– embarrass you into buying something because if you have to ask someone the price & then don’t buy it you can imagine people assuming that is the reason. As well it might be, but that’s your business and noone else’s, I don’t like feeling bullied! What I’m saying is, I aint’ Kim Kardashian and have limited funds, so taking the«next step» and taking an item to a change room or sitting at a table requires knowledge or a fair assumption of pricing. Sushi Train is KING of clear and to-the-point pricing. Konichi-Wa bitches! There is a train. It has sushi on it. Sushi is on different coloured plates, each colour signifies either $ 3, 4 or 5 dollars. You choose your plate, if you want more you then choose another plate. Genius! There’s also pickled ginger and some delicious green sugar paste that is delicious if you smear as much as humanly possible on everything you eat.* If they are lacking what you desire the lovely sushi-creator in the middle of the train will roll it for you, and when have you EVER been to a Japanese restaurant where the staff were less than charming? Perfect light food after a day in the sun at the beach or Bondi Market next door. *Muahaha. Don’t do that, that stuff is called wasabi and it will make you sneeze and cry. It is the day after Halloween and I’m tricking.
