I rushed into Sushi Connection this afternoon in search of a quick, cheap meal on my way to some of the shops. I wasn’t expecting a spectacular meal, given that it is just a little sushi joint inside a shopping centre, but there were a fair few people sitting down for a late lunch so I assumed that was a positive. I chose a pre-sliced, small box of chicken teriyaki rolls with shredded carrot and a bit of lettuce, which was only $ 5 for eight pieces. If you sit down to eat there, you can pour yourself a little pot of soy sauce from the counter, which I’m pretty sure was quite watered down. The sushi wasn’t that great — the chicken was tasty but dry, and the rice was hard to chew on, like it had been sitting out for a while. It wasn’t horrible, but there is certainly far better sushi available, even from takeaway places like this

Don’t judge me for this but i love Sushi Connection for their end of day deals. Bargain boxes of sushi and sashimi for $ 4 or more depending what size you get — it just makes sense. I like to swing by and grab one for my dinner because at these prices it would be rude not to. It saves having to cook or clean and it’s healthy. There’s also a great menu which operates all day featuring all the usual suspects: sushi, sashimi, tempura, udon, rice paper rolls, dumplings and a host of mixed boxes, lunch boxes, mini boxes… Most importantly I’ve never got sick or had any suspect food from here. Good sushi at great prices.

I have been coming to Bondi Junction mall for eons but only began coming to Sushi Connection just a little while ago. The drawcard isn’t the sushi for me — I’ve never been a big fan — it’s the vegetable brown rice sushi, which, to me, is another kind of food altogether — healthier, tastier, no crabs, claws or raw fish stuff. And they’re big. Kind of the equivalent of a 12-inch Subway roll in Sushi-speak(the arithmetic would work like this: a standard sushi would be the equivalent of one 6-inch subway sandwich, thus .) But if you’re more adventurous than I am then are all kinds of small, long, sticky, non-sticky, raw, fried, orange, blue, crabs(eww), salmon(not eew), chicken(definitely not ew), rice paper rolls, you can sink your teeth into. And it’s cheap — brown rice sushi rolls are $ 4. And there’s seating. But don’t wear out your welcome — Bondi Junction parking is not friendly to people who don’t know when to go home.
