I only stopped by here because it’s right behind the bus stop and I am glad I walked in! I only had a brief look at everything, but I managed to find some pretty awesome soft water from here! I kind of downed it in one go. There were a couple of other bottles of water sitting there. I have actually been wanting to go back and try some more water there. Hopefully it’s just as good, but I don’t really go to Bondi often. *sad face*

I love Russia. There, I said it. From it’s dour, crab apple-like babushkas to it’s Siberian gulags, it is mysterious and bleak and utterly intriguing. Also those fur hats. Enter Russkis, with it’s powerful propagandist imagery and a shop full of things I don’t know much about but that I want to know better. Chopped herring salad dip, dumplings, jars of kraut and pickle and roe, whole freezers full of things, wonderful things. I thought I was buying a small chocolate-coated biscuit and ice cream treat, and ended up with frozen ricotta filled with blueberry jam. See? Amazing.

I pretty much only come here for the olive selection(which is varied and delicious!) but there’s a great range of Russian/Eastern European foods available. Lots of deli goods like meats, salads, home-style dishes and pickled goods… and also lots of frozen and dry grocery items. I don’t know all that much about Russian food/brands etc but it certainly looks as though Russkis has a good range available. I’m part Russian and love walking in and smelling the foods my grandmother used to love and getting a little Russian-style attitude from the staff(they’re tough cookies).

Oh little Russkis Deli how I will miss living so close to you! I’ve wandered into you many times and was so fascinated with the selection of Russian food you have. From the dried goods sitting on the shelves, to the fresh food in the deli cases, I’ve learned a lot from you. I’ll be back for you!

This Russian Deli store located on Bondi Road is an excellent deli, one of the best I’ve been too. Its got loads of home made treats in here and lots of other imported goods I’ve never seen too. Their range of cold meats, sausages and cheeses are great as is their bottled and canned goods which line the back wall. Some of their home made specialties in the fridge you can’t go pass like their bags of home made dumplings. When they have specials, you can usually pick up two big bags for $ 25. Also they have their own home made pickles, russian pies up front, a sweet cheese spread and cool cheesecake chocolates in the fridge. This place’ll definitely have you coming back for more!

If Piroshki’s, Borsch, Blini’s and Sirniki’s get you salivating then you need to get your good self down to Russkis Deli. This store has a huge selection of Russian and Eastern European-style foods — including a fridge of fascinating bright coloured cans and jars in Russian — as well as lots of other foods. The deli section boasts pickled herring, pates, pickled cucumbers, olives, salads and more. There’s also host of sweet deserts and chocolates and confectionery as well as breads and crackers on the shelves.

Kostya Tsyu shops here! Yeah that’s right, he gets in his Tsyu-plated Bentley and drives all the way to Bondi from way out West to pick up delicacies from his Homeland. And if it’s good enough for Kostya… Russkis just had a massive refurb and image overhaul and I am loving the new look– the shiny Russian red sign and Soviet font looks great. If you are inclined towards Eastern Bloc delicacies like pickled herring, chicken liver pâté, eel, or this vegetarian’s favourite sweet treat cheese piroshki, it’s worth a mission from where-ever you are. Just ask Kostya.

I love walking into foreign food grocery store as I feel like I’m on holiday in a foreign place. The unique smells, items, labels are so exciting to discover that I can spend a long time discovering different cultures just by looking at what’s for sale. So, of course I was going to walk into a place called Russkis Deli which looked like it was part of a propaganda video. The bright yellow star on the storefront and the bright red colours had me sold… Inside the store you’ll find a wide range of goods including a confectionary, wines, cheese, chocolates, meats and salads. Prices are reasonable and I’m sure you’ll find at least one item worthy of a purchase. My favourite is the gazillion different types of pickled vegetables. They also do takeaways, so if you’re feeling like a cultural experience why not pop into this Russian Revolution.
