I must confess, the reviews on here did make me a *tad* apprehensive about trying Charminar … but I am a realist. I wasn’t expecting the best Indian feast of my life, and I wasn’t expecting it to be 100% authentic. If you go with that attitude, you will really enjoy it here ;) Lucky we booked, as it was pretty busy for a Tuesday night! Staff were very attentive, and our orders were taken after a very short wait(but long enough for us to decide). We ordered Onion Bajji and Lentil Pakoras for entrée — both were delicious and very filling! For main I had the Rogan Josh(which was melt-in-your-mouth and a bit spicy without being overwhelming), rice and papadums. My partner had the Navratan Korma, a vegetarian dish that wasn’t really my thing, but she really enjoyed it. We had this entire meal(plus a cider/beer each) for around $ 66 — now that is real value for money! The food was delicious and we walked out stuffed to the gills ;) The service was excellent too, with the staff being attentive without being overbearing and food came out quickly(but not too quickly). Charminar is great for what it is — a ‘franchise’ Indian restaurant. And yes, we’d love to come back here again ;)

Had the feast from here and there was so much food and wine for the $ 25/head price. Curries were tasty, even though the feast had a preset menu and the dessert was very sweet. Sides of pappadums and samosa were quite nice too. A lot of chickpeas and spices, but I am into that kind of food so this was a nice meal. Although I know a few people who have had an average experience here, i guess I was lucky to be able to get quite a nice one here.

This place is to Indian cuisine what The Jersey Shore is to entertainment. If you don’t understand what I mean, you’re probably not capable of reading reviews. I don’t really know whether they’ve hired chefs from other leading Indian restaurants and then only bought them the cheapest and nastiest ingredients, or they’ve hired the worst apprentice chefs they could possibly find to do all the cooking. Seriously, I’ve made better stuff out of a packet. The only reason this place gets two stars is because the service made the experience just that little bit more liveable.

Charminar chefs have been selected from several different leading Indian restaurants… Apparently. Well all I know is that rich flavorsome curries and I go hand in hand. The curries here are good although they are not entirely brilliant. It’s more of a mediocre experience, but that’s ok.
The venue itself is a nice sort of place with reasonably pleasing décor, and ditto with the nice when analyzing the food. Although you could do better, the cuisine here is alright. It’s true that I’m not the harshest critic of Indian food, and to me it(mostly) all taste pretty decent, still nevertheless I have been satisfied eating here in the past. However this is coming from from a curry lover who is yet to dislike anything that taste remotely Indian.

Another reviewer who thinks Charminar is so-so at best. I went here with friend on their recommendation(apparently I was in store for the best indian feast ever). Im sorry, but its really not that good. The curries had some potential flavourwise, but t missed the mark and failed to deliver. I found both the meat and the sauce too dry for my liking. The only thing that prevented a one star review was the service was quite good. I don’t think l’d go back.

Just like Michelle, I am very particular in dining at Indian restaurants, mainly because I am a good Indian cook(ahem!) and I know my Indian food. It didn’t lend a burst of flavours as I expected it to be. The goat dish was fairly alright although I think it needed an overnight marination in yoghurt! If you forgot take the meat out from the freezer or want a fast takeaway, come here then. Otherwise, I’m taking orders for my next Indian delivery service: p

Ok maybe I started too young eating Indian food and/or have hung around too many Indians who cook the real deal in my time. I love Indian food, but here it sucks! If you like mainly flavourless, dry, formerly frozen(?) curry, then go ahead, be my guest. As for me though, I don’t get the Charminar thing. Maybe the other locations do a better job, but I’ve daren’t try after not one but two yuck meals at the Brighton one. On a positive note I can say that the interior design is nice, yeah that’s all I’ve got. In a nutshell — if you don’t know what really good Indian food tastes like maybe you’ll thinks it’s epic!
