Café 21 is good alternative to the only other 24 hour restaurants in the city, Pancake Manor and Hungry Jacks. While the food isn’t rave worthy, it is good and even better if your a little tipsy stumbling around the city at 4 in the morning looking for somewhere to replenish after a long night of dancing. Most of my city nights end up at the Casino after everything else has closed anyway so it’s perfect. There is a bit of everything on the menu and the 24-hour options include a big brekkie, pizzas, ribs and plenty more. The prices are pretty good, mostly under $ 20 and the staff are very professional. No bookings are necessary but if its busy you may just have to wait a little while to be seated, taking advantage of one of the many bars in the Casino while you wait.

Just last weekend when my girlfriends and I decided to spend a night in the city, we didn’t get hungry until it was 11pm. Wondering around town, wondering what was still serving dinner, we found ourselves at the Conrad Treasury Casino at Café 21. The kitchen opens until 12 midnight, all good for us, we were a bit famished, some already kind of hungover, we persisted and ordered a couple of meals. I had the barbeque ribs(surprise surprise) and my friend ordered the fish and chips(special of the day $ 24) and the steak burger. MSA approved beef. When we asked the waitress what MSA meant because it was all over the menu, she didn’t really have any idea. So we went on ahead and ate it anyway. Along with this, I had a chai latte and my friends tried the wine. All in all, my ribs were huge with a bourbony barbeque sauce which I found a little bit forceful… but after being famished for so long, tasted quite good after the 5th or 6th or 7th or 8th bite… I just kept going. My friends burger was pretty nice she reckoned, she wasn’t that hungry but finished it to her surprise and the fish and chips didn’t really get touched because we were all so full. Because they are linked to the casino, they do $ 3 specials for different postcodes around Brisbane and they do a cool breakfast as well. Café 21 is value for money. It’s not going to be posh posh, but you won’t be disappointed with the tucker you get here.
