Chow down. What a great name. I ordered an apple juice and beef rice paper rolls for just over a tenner. My meal arrived within minutes. It was fresh and delicious. The industrial aircon is noisy but effective. It’s the place to grab lunch. Takeaway options are available.

Definitely worth eating at. Might have ate here 6 times during my 4 day stay. Can’t get enough.

Annie and Kym provided the best service, the food was great, sashimi was fresh, pork dumplings were spot on — lovely atmosphere. We will be back for more

I don’t go to Brisbane Square often enough! During lunch at Communal with Lani P. we’ve noticed that little Chow Down place. Obviously I had to go and check it out. There are two parts of the place, first one, where you just go in, order and eat there, and second where you get your take away fix. I have not yet been to eat in there yet, I have only tried the take away option. The eating in is problematic for me, as it is mostly outside — in this 30degC weather I’m not doing very well(thick polish blood I say), and try to keep my outside time to minimum. I am definitely going to try it out, it looks very spacious and interesting. They’ve definitely got my curiosity. Especially that their take away menu is very tasty. What you do there, is you pick your base(steam or fried rice) and topping, i.e. satay chicken! All that costs you $ 9 or $ 10 if you opted for fried rice. You get a big bowl full of deliciousness. I find it very tasty and it’s usually not too busy either — I guess not too many people still know about it! They also have some sushi rolls there if you feel like it. I have not had a chance to try them out yet. The only issue I have with the take away part is that it’s not very clear what CAN you order and how does it work. The only note there is that you pick base and then toppings, but there is actually no information what kind of base you can choose from. That makes me a bit confused and I am still not completely sure I know what I’m doing! I hope they’ll actually get some more description about their take away, but otherwise I am in favour, and will definitely keep going there. As well as I must go and try the sit in option too. Surely more to come! :)
