Registered specialist endodontists providing care for patients in the areas of root canal therapy, dental injuries, dental trauma management and endodontic microsurgery. All root canal treatments are routinely performed under microscopes, using cutting edge equipment, digital radiographs and the highest possible sterilisation standards for the best possible outcomes and excellence in care for patients. With a combined experience of 190 years, the endodontic group consists of 10 registered specialist endodontists practicing across 6 locations.

History

Established in 1980.

The endodontic group had its beginnings in 1980, when Gilbert Shearer moved from his Toowong general practice to the current premises in Wickham Terrace to practise exclusively in endodontics, at a time when Brisbane had no registered endodontists in private practice.

In 1984, John McNamara joined Gilbert, having completed his speciality training at The University of Adelaide. In 1991, William Bowles completed his specialty training at the University of Queensland and joined the group. Following in his footsteps and completing their Masters at the University of Queensland and joining the practice were Ross Applegarth (1993), Matthew Gentner (1995) and Timothy Smith (1999). Timothy joined after a few years return of service with the Australian Army, including a Tour of Duty in Iraq.

During the past 10 years the practice has grown even further, with Bayardo Martell, Karen Wong, Ward Rutley, Margot Anderson and Jonathan Moore joining the group as Associates.
