Hive is my go to coffee place most mornings. Hot coffee, friendly faces and they make an effort to get to know you. Service can be a bit hit and miss, depending on who you get. But the barista is without fail one of the chirpiest early morning people ive ever encountered. Food unfortunately while it looks good is sometimes a bit lacking in the flavour department and id love to see some variety in their salads which are either mainly lettuce or full of pumpkin(not my fave vege). Overall they are pretty good. Ill keep going for the coffee!

I was super excited to try this lunch spot out yesterday, especially since I had taken a walking around several weeks earlier to see what it was all about. The open venue consists of two cafeteria style bars, one hot and one cold, each serving a tasty looking selection of carved meats, pasta bakes, roasted veg, salads, sandwiches and deserts. The back wall also includes a menu board where you can choose from even more tasty reading options including hot sandwiches and such. Overcome by the urge for a burger, I went with The Hive burger, a double patty with cheese, onion, lettuce and tomato. The lunch crowd was in full force with their takeaway preferences, so I figured the kitchen couldn’t be that slammed. Boy was I wrong! After an embarrassing mixup with my order, I finally received my burger 20 minutes late, ravenous, and pretty damn well near fuming. Adding insult to injury, the burger was a total disappointment. The meat patties could have been likened to tasteless grey hockey pucks, and the brioche bun had clearly been aerating and drying itself out for a hot minute. My friend was smart and went with a simple takeaway sandwich from the cold bar, consisting of spinach, turkey, brie, pumpkin, and… wait for it… human hair. Never again. And don’t you dare be fooled by the lines. When did everyone become ok with sub-par food and service??? With so many other options around the area, I kindly/strongly suggest you keep Unilocaling.
