Laced Espresso

I seem to be giving lots of five stars but I am starting on Unilocal with my most favorite things and, when it comes to favourites, coffee has surely got to be up there!
Tucked in an architecturally inspired space opposite City Hall, I am at Laced every morning without fail ordering an extra shot latte.
Now I will be the first to say that I am a coffee snob so I expect my extra shot latte to be on point each and every time. Laced never seems to disappoint!
I also love the surprise of what the muffin of the day will be, with some new and deliciously zany like Hello Panda or bacon and glazed donut appearing on the menu. Every now and again I crumble to the peer pressure of Bel, Eloise and Goffrey behind the counter and go for it! #livealittle

The coolest hole in the wall I ever did see. You know in the movies when someone sees something, walks past what they saw. then walks backwards to see what it is they missed?
Me. That was me. Walking backwards, curious as to what Laced Espresso had that I wanted. This little cutie place has an amazing feature wall that I happened to get an awesome selfie next to AND it has delicious coffee. It also has such friendly staff. They must be fairly well sought after because the line up was constant, people were happy and coffee was being drunk.
All positives. Will return.

So its early morning and there are heaps of people here which unfortunately makes the area cramped as you wait for coffee.
There was a wait on the coffee so if I was in a hurry I would pick somewhere else…
However… The wait for the coffee was worth it! The flat white I had was incredibly smooth and really just really good.
Will come back maybe when not so busy.

The coffee had great flavour but was on the cold side.
$ 3.50 for one tiny piece of sourdough is a bit much.
Not going back.

This little café has hit the right note. They have found the right mix of staff including possibly one of Brisbanes best baristas. But beyond that the staff genuinely care about their regulars and make you feel welcome.

Boy am I glad I didn’t let a bad first impression keep me from coming back to this lovely little coffee shop!
Don’t get me wrong. There was nothing wrong with the service, the setup or even the fact that Laced is situated in a tight space reserved for what looks like a hallway (yeah I’m a little claustrophobic). It was the coffee that originally turned me off. It just wasn’t very good! But I’m happy to say that every time I’ve been back since, the coffee, the baristas and the overall ambiance have been phenomenal.
The first thing you’ll notice when you enter the shop is the line. I’ve been here during rush hour and sometimes it snakes out the door. I’ve now taken to hitting this place after 9:00 am when the crowds have died down. Trust me, it’s much nicer.
Second thing is the warm unassuming feeling that just radiates from the folks working behind the counter. There’s a disarming smile from the girl taking your order and a dancing barista grooving to the beats. The black coffee is smooth with the just right amount of bitterness, and I haven’t had any issues with the temperature.
Top tip! No need to bring cash if you’re not keen to carry around those pesky coins. They don’t have a minimum for the EFTPOS machine so cards are welcome. Give this place a try. You may just end up becoming a regular like me!

everyday I take my little tribe of girlfriends down to Laced Expresso for our morning coffee — the boyz no me as ‘Shaz’.
Not only is the coffee consistently amazing, their customer service is unprecedented — you MUST try their sour toast with cottage cheese, basil and tomato — and NOT forgetting the amazing white balsamic lol
They make their coffee and food with love and keep me going through the week! love ya work boyz!
