We were enticed by the positive recommendations of the breakfast menu for a tenner. When we arrived they were in change over and had to wait 20 minutes till the kitchen cleaned up and we were allowed to order off the lunch menu. If you are looking for gluten free options then you have limited choice. My dining companion ordered steak, salad and chips. I had the pork belly salad. Once we ordered things were looking up and the service was good. The food was passable but not memorable. Book ahead if you are going to eat out on the Gold Coast so you aren’t disappointed.

Best $ 10 big breakfast you’ll have, even on New Year’s Day, was quick, friendly and prompt, small confusion about getting menus but as soon as we ordered, food and coffee’s prompt and delicious, you could tell they were doing everything in their power to be as quick as they could including the owner an elderly European man clearing tables and managing the floor.

I’m very impressed with Rock Salt. I wasn’t expecting the level of quality from a restaurant boasting«modern dining» and was blown away. Thank you for proving me wrong.

Fantastic food and an exceptional level of service I have not seen in a long time. It was a quiet Wednesday evening and that may have contributed to how quickly we were served each of our three courses, which had immaculate plating and great taste. If there is a flaw to this restaurant it would be the minimalist menu(can be reviewed online before visiting); however even my wife, who has very mainstream tastes, found something she liked for each course. Even in the middle of winter you can dine outside in comfort thanks to the many patio heaters which can reposition as desired. Warning: This dining experience is not inexpensive.

From the owners of my favourite Broadbeach restaurant(Social Eating House & Bar), also comes this delicious member of what is a rather large dining selection in Broadbeach. The atmosphere is a little fancier, and less«social» than Social, and meals are standard entrees & mains rather than share plates. The online menu had a couple of dishes the same as social(pork belly & crumbed prawn for one), but the actual summer menu once there was different. I opted for 2 entrees instead of a main, but also tried some of S’s crumbed steak(divine)! The pork belly was okay, the stick of crackling with it was a little chewy, but I love love LOVED the scallops, sauce & black pudding it also came with. My 2nd dish was Ravioli with Morton Bay bugs & salmon roe — and was the best pasta /bug dish I’ve probably ever had! Service was a little slow at times(we went at 6pm and it was far from busy) but staff were friendly enough. Not quite social, and a little more expensive than Koi — but still pretty darn good food and I’ll go back.

ahhh what a great find! unassuming with incredibly tasty food. we had the lunch special: salt & pepper prawns with a spanner crab salad — so pretty! so delicious! the prawns were lightly battered and perfectly cooked. the spanner crab salad was nice and fresh. i really liked the sweet corn custard that went with it. mushroom risotto(I think?) with peas and mascarpone — very rich, but so so worth it. and it spread! ok, whenever i make risotto, it doesn’t ‘spread’ on the plate the way top chef has advised me it should. it kind of sits there, lumpy. anyway, this risotto spread and it was amazing. i’ll be back in qld in december and i will absolutely be back to rock salt.
