I like this shop. They have a lot to offer. The service however is not as good as EB Games.

I am quite appalled at the experience my Aunt had whilst shopping here. My Aunt is a nearly 70 year old women who went to JB Hi-Fi to buy a new laptop. As you can probably expect my Aunt’s needs are fairly limited — she does a little word processing, needs to sort some photos, and use the internet occasionally. In this day and age you need about as much processing power as I can get on my phone, and there are a glut of reasonably priced and solid laptops that fit this bill. My Aunt(who is, understandably, not the most computer savvy buyer in the world) explained this to the salesperson, who convinced her that she needed a full spec Alienware gaming laptop. For those of you who are not familiar with these machines they are the top of the range Ferrari’s of the laptop world, with all the gimics included. Even the keys light up(neon blue, green, or red, if you were wondering). This is not a laptop anyone with ANY understanding of the technology would recommend for someone in my Aunt’s demographic. Needless to say these top of the range laptops are not cheap. There is a problem when the supposed experts on a topic take advantage of their customers and push a sale for their own bottom line at the expense of the customer experience. Sadly, my Aunt is a little too embarrassed to return the laptop, and takes the full responsibility for the purchase on her own shoulders. And in part, she is right — as the customer she is responsible for the purchase she decided to make. However I am disgusted at the approach here, and would highly recommend people to take advantage of other specialist stores. In truth, JB Hi-Fi is not even always the cheapest option. If you have found this review you are already familiar with searching for information on the web, and a range of well priced and decent machines can be found online simply by searching for them. There are a range of outlets for these online stores as well. I recently purchased a new laptop at a store between Town Hall and Central at a much, much better deal then was available at JB Hi-Fi.
