The 3 star rating is a tad misleading in my assumption of Jason Lee Bakery/Café. A more accurate rating would 5 Star for the pie, and only 1 Star for the coffee. Admittedly I probably shouldn’t have a high expectation for a flat white made on an ancient looking coffee machine by a 15 year old, but since I’ve been called a coffee snob in the past I will stick to my guns on this one. The milk was too hot, the coffee burnt. The less said the better. And then there’s the pie. How a plain beef pie that’s been sitting in a warmer for multiple hours can deserve a 5 Star rating is beyond me. But it deserves it. Firstly there were actually chunks of beef in the pie, not that strange mince mixture that is found in many. Secondly the gravy was thick and not too salty, and finally the pastry not too crumbly or too dry. Maybe my disappointment at the coffee enhanced my joy at a tasty pie, but it was fantastic, well above the average of the normal bakery pie.
