Elissa’s Bite

Takeaway food is solid. I had the fish sandwich and my partner had the Jaden burger. Both were great. The large fries are enough for two or three people. The major downside is the quantity that comes for side items. You only get one item per $ 1 order (one potato cake, one dim sum, one chicken nugget). Who would pay $ 2 for only two chicken nuggets?
Overall, we’ll order again but won’t bother with side items.

The takeaway food here is great. The burgers are amazing (the special sauce!) as are the kebabs. Delivery has always been quick and never wrong. In my opinion, the only thing that could improve is the fish. Not sure what kind they use, but it’s a bit bland.

I’ve tried to like this place in the 6 months or so since it opened, I really have. I was excited to see a place in my hood that offered kebabs but sadly they rate as some of the worst I’ve ever had.
The meat in the kebabs is dry and leads to an experience much like consuming newspaper. The burgers are of similar quality, the beef being well below fish & chip shop quality and as for the chicken don’t expect a fillet, you’ll be receiving a bunch of tiny off cuts in a bun instead.
I’ve told myself several times since they opened that they just need to find their feet and they’ll improve, however each experience has been as bad as the first and it’s time to give up.
Avoid.

Elissa’s Bite took over a space where a pretty crappy pizza shop used to dwell. They do a range of take away foods but specialise in the Middle Eastern realm.
Melbourne is big on Souvlaki and less large on kebabs. These folk do some of the freshest kebabs I’ve had in Melbourne and they do it with good grace. They also have fish & chips and burgers on the menu, which I haven’t tried.
The best thing here is that they do a snack sized kebab that is pretty much my dream size late afternoon snack or light dinner. They also do a discount for regulars and have been kind to staff at the nearby community radio station RRR, so they understand the value of a bit of customer service. The lamb may not look much, but I’ve had a 100% hit rate in terms of flavour.
Elissa’s has been a valuable addition to this until-​recently crappy set of shops and adds another option to the burgeoning café district of Blyth and Nicholson.
