Azura’s Oasis

Now this is an intriguing and strange set up. Azura’s Oasis is a shop selling bellydance wear — you know, shimmery, jingling bits and colourful, flamboyant fabrics and skimpy underwear that doubles as outerwear. AND it is also a dance studio.
The exotic costumes are displayed around the periphery of the store, and in the middle, a big, open space to shake it all about in the style of belly, bolly, Zumba or flamenco.
I’m up for a good dance class as much as any other Frances Houseman wannabe, but I’m not so sure about shimmying and shaking my wobbly parts around in a shop, where the large, glass-​fronted shop windows face out boldly onto busy Sydney Road. I mean, a performance like this don’t come for free, it’s gonna cost ya.
So no, I won’t be trying a dance class here although I’m sure they’ll be really good, but the costumes are rather fabulous and it’s worth popping in to have a look around (and maybe borrow some new moves).
