Been going here regularly for the past two years and always loved it. Today we faced the dreaded revised menu, not too much had changed, but all the minor changes which made this place fantastic seemed to be gone… I overheard the couple next to me got my favourite jellystoner and it was much smaller and removed the avacado and Rostti. So I went for Sydney Road eggs, way too much beetroot and no matter how much salt I put on it was still watery and bland. I also added bacon, which was undercooked please, please change it back!

I often go here with my hunkface partner and let me tell you, every single time this place nails it. I’m in love with brunch and Jellystone always delivers the best in Brunny. The menu has changed in the last year that I’ve been frequenting this local gem, but it’s still as good as ever. Try the Sydney Road Eggs(my babe’s fav) or any of the omelettes… yum x100. In terms of beverages, their coffee is delish(where can you get a bad coffee in Melbourne… no really?), and they have seriously spicy Bloody Mary’s — a great hangover cure for those who love boozy nights. The service is fresh and funky and one of the regular servers there is one of the best dudes around. I live nearby… so yeah… I’ll keep going back and spreading the Jellystone love around town.

Jellystone is the best café in brunswick east as far as I’m concerned. They blew me away with their vanilla ricotta/house-made scone/house-made jams special a few weeks ago. The dreamiest creamiest tastiest treat. Unreal. Absolutely unreal. Another note– my mate and I have been on somewhat of a tour if Melbourne in search of the ultimate spiced hot chocolate… Here is where you’ll find it. The perfect thickness and blend of spicy and sweet, Jellystone’s spiced hot chocolate has almost medicinal properties. So good I just want to swim in a pool of it and drink that tasty tasty all day

This place is my local go to for meetings and afternoon coffees. Delicious coffee and cakes and mega-friendly staff. You do have to dodge the oversized prams but I look forward to them atttaining their liquor license.

Jellystone Café(formerly Green Tambourine) looks a little out of place from its’ surroundings, in the best possible way. Housed in an old blue stone cottage, with a small parking lot on one side and a park on the other, it’s a far cry from the modern apartments and dilapidated Victorian terraces that crowd the vicinity. The food is delicious and not too pricey, and the atmosphere is chilled and welcoming. There’s even a sand pit out the back for the Brunswick hipster mums to plonk their kids while their get their coffee/milkshake/lemonade on. The people are friendly, and the service is prompt but not pushy. There’s a couple of old school wooden tables with benches out the front and a series of intimate nooks on the inside, though the inside of the building doesn’t get too much natural light. I recommend the pies: homemade, not too expensive and satisfying.

I had to interview this musician and she nominated this café as a good place to do it. I knew the place as it’s in this awesome primitive-looking blue stone building on Albion Street in Brunswick and I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for the building. So anyway, this woman(my interviewee) had crashed off her bike a few days earlier and her face was all scabbed up and bruised. The staff took such an interest in her well being that I have to say I was touched. And despite the fact they kept interrupting the interview to express their feelings towards her, I get the impression the folk who work at this café are just genuinely nice. They do the most amazing sweet treats here and many are specifically catering for dietary requirements. So if you’re celiac or anything intolerant, there’s a good chance there’ll be a cake for you. I had a banana milkshake. The waitress gave me that look like ‘you sick bastard’ when I ordered it, but man it was good. The coffee also looked great and they have a big outside area for the smokers/sun lovers.
