Black Jacket Suiting

Suave has a new address in Brisbane, and its not in the CBD. Introducing Black Jacket Suiting, which opened (quietly) a little over a week ago. It’s a boutique men’s store specialising in premium suiting, as well as corporate and formal wear. A store even Harvey Spectre of the TV show «Suits» would be happy to shop at.
I came upon this place as it was closing up for the day, and after saying, «hello is this a new shop?», to Ryan (who turned out to be the owner), he personally opened up the store again, providing a little bit of a tour, explaining the concept, his story, and what Black Jacket Suiting is all about. I distinctly remember thinking that if Ryan, is like this with me, a stranger who kept him from closing up, then customers of Black Jacket Suiting are in great hands. His exceptional level of service will go a long way to ensuring the business stays around for a long time.
Ryan Fisher, 23, has been in the retail men’s fashion industry since high school, working at a boutique store in Carindale, whilst studying a Commerce/​Law and Science Degree. He’s always had a passion for retail and clothes. Combine that with his keen eye on the industry, his experience, and some travel to fashion capitals such as Rome, Paris, and London, over the year, it reinforced his belief that there was a gap in the Brisbane men’s fashion scene. The gap being, a high level of personalised service at a fraction of the price. Black Jacket Suiting was born, and the rest is history.
Inside, the store is clean-​cut, sharp, polished, a subtle state of elegance. Stock is arranged neatly and is not overcrowded. From crisp corporate shirts, to sleek suits, ready to be fitted. There are also accessories such as cufflinks, shoes, pocket-​squares, ties, and bow-​ties shown-​off in display cabinets. Black Jacket Suiting’s current lines include Studio Italia, Milano, New England, Shoreditch, Daniel Hechter, Boston, Cristian Brooks, Le’Win, Gloweave Fashion Biz, Brooksfield, Muski, Bennicci, Floreshiem, Rembrandt, Lee St John’s Cinciti and RM Williams is coming soon. There’s an upstairs area, where appointments/​fittings are held, and as Ryan says, a fridge where gents can have a casual beverage of their choice.
Where Black Jacket Suiting differentiates itself from other suiting businesses is their philosophy to provide a level of exclusive and personalised service you would expect from high end brands, (of which you pay more than $ 2000 for a suit) at ¼ of the price. Their process has also been streamlined to be efficient, so that between consumer fit, alter and collection, the transaction is complete in 3 — 4 business days, rather than the usual weekend — to — weekend turnaround. Part of achieving this is their flexibility in providing a mobile service, visiting offices, or places of residence. Gents will only have to be fitted once, and Black Jacket Suiting can send outfits via email or call correspondence, (assuming the man hasn’t changed size!).
As a suiting business, this means of course they will have events throughout the year like the races, formals, gala balls, and weddings, covered. All customers have to do is look-​out for special packages.
It was a surreal experience having a private tour of Black Jacket Suiting, and although I was unable to purchase anything (as the registers were already shutdown), I am definitely coming back here to replenish my office-​wear. Black Jacket Suiting’s «Grand Opening» to the public is on Saturday, 1^st and 2^nd of February 2014. Be there or be (pocket) square!
