I’ve been here many times and the guys serving are always helpful. Muffins are great especially the double choc one. Coffee is nice and goes well with sandwich or muffin or bacon cheese roll. I admire these guys running a bakery, early hours and good prices for latrobe students. My wife studies @ latrobe but I enjoy this café when waiting for her to finish a class somedays. Plenty of choice.

The Bake n Bean is pretty popular on the La Trobe University campus. If you happen to be in the Agora early in the morning you’ll be able to smell the coffee and toasted sandwiches from a mile away. What Bake n Bean offers is value — no wonder they are always so busy. Toasted sandwiches and a regular coffee, and a muffin and coffee for around $ 5 is a bargain. It means that us poor students can get our caffeine fix and not have to starve for the rest of the day. I recommend getting in there early for breakfast or a morning snack. In the afternoon and around lunch the café gets really busy and they sometimes sell out of particular muffins or pies. The coffee is pretty good, although the quality can sometimes take a dip when it gets busy. The guys behind the counter do a good job of getting your food heated up and out to you quickly, the whole operation is pretty efficient.
