My new fave hangout! Great little café/coffee joint — but much more. It has a great vibe and is a relaxed place for a meal, coffee, working, reading, of just waiting for your train.(Or centrelink payment) Play a game of foosball while getting a fantastic American-style pourover from people who know their beans! Did I mention free WiFi?

Not a bad café. Boasts an impressive selection of beans to choose from. Unfortunately, I’m not sure exactly how well it pays off to have such a large variety. Sometimes people get a bit overwhelmed when given such a broad collection and controlling quality becomes an issue. I dunno, just a thought by me. Coffee was pretty good. Maybe not quite as good as Prospect around the corner but that again could be because of the coffee I had. I feel I’d have a different experience every time I drop by.

Being a bit of a coffee aficionado(a.k.a snob) I do love this place as they sell a large amount of beans from independent roasters along with their own blends at a pretty reasonable price. They are often also stocked two or three days after roasting which means they are ultra fresh. When buying beans there is also the option for a $ 1 coffee with it, which is one of the better deals cafes around the area offer! The food too is pretty good. Nothing overly fancy but you know you can’t go too wrong if your ever there. Definitely one of the few places I’d rather go to when in Camberwell!

Typical café food on the menu, smashed avacado, house baked beans and porridge. Definitely filling and worthy of the price. Coffee is stand out, and lay out of the café is unique! Pretty busy for a friday morning, so they must be doing something right. Service was fine, unlike many cafes, it didnt have that friendly welcome feel.

I was so disappointed with my first visit here I vowed to never come back(as in: took two sips of my coffee and ditched it in the bin outside — vile). After some gentle prodding I went back this weekend and was far more impressed. The coffee was actually drinkable and the food was fresh and mostly generous. I had standard poached eggs with a side of spinach. Eggs cooked well with plenty of spinach served on good bread. The boy had the special of hash brown, salmon with eggs and a horseradish and chive cream. It looked like a small size when it first came out but managed to fill him up with little complaint. If I was just having coffee I would probably still go elsewhere but the menu had more of a selection than local competition My Other Brother and Prospect Espresso.

I’m a pretty coffee-driven guy, and I’ve made a few treks out to Coffehead in the past few months. Some have been to just buy some beans, but a couple of times I have actually eaten some light breakfasts. I can’t say less than«I’m a fan». The coffee is pretty good; their standard house blend is fine for pretty much any basic latte. The food; I’ve only had the simple things like eggs on toast, or their pork roll… but they have been a delight. Their selection of coffee beans is another story. I don’t know of many other places in the city where you can get such fantastic brands in one place! Proud Mary, Toby’s Estate, Brother Thomas, and even The Maling Room are all stocked and featured. If for nothing else, it’s just a great place to get some good beans!

Shockingly bad service. My daughter dropped her piece of toast on the floor, and a passing waitress picked it up and put it back on her plate! Ewww! Who wants to eat something that’s been on the floor of a busy café?

My first experience at Coffee Head was a pleasant surprise, as we stumbled upon it by accident and dropped in for a quick coffee. A lovely astroturf area out the front was perfect for a sunny day. We returned for breakfast and my sister raved about the corn fritters for days afterwards. Both times the staff inside when we paid our bill were a bit unfriendly but we brushed it off, as the other waitstaff were very friendly. Our third visit brought us back for breakfast to introduce a few locals to our find. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. — Three out of four of us ordered the fritters on previous rave reviews, one of us asked for the poached egg to be well done. — They gave the well done poached egg to the wrong customer(too late after the runny yolk went all over her meal) — All servings of fritters were pretty much inedible. They were doughy, overcooked and oily, with hardly any corn kernels. A thorough disappointment because they were so good last time. — One of my party asked the waitress for some peanut butter on toast, and explained that she couldn’t eat the fritters — The manager came out shortly after and argued with her that because she had eaten one of the fritters, they were going to charge her for the fritters and the peanut butter toast(I beg to differ, but I’m pretty sure you have to eat some of the meal to work out if it’s nice or not!) before we had even asked about getting any of our money back. Our waitress apologised profusely, as she had tried to get our peanut butter toast free of charge — We had tried to explain that they were not the same standard that we had consumed on a previous visit — When my friend went to pay for the bill, she asked to speak to the manager to giver her some feedback on our experience. Before my friend opened her mouth, the manager began to argue with her and became very defensive. We were not asking for a discount or free coffees or a free meal, we just simply wanted to give management some constructive feedback. So, all I can do is give that feedback here and say that I will never come back here again and do not recommend anyone go here. Try some of the other great funky cafes that are popping up in the area instead.

When Coffeehead first opened, I raved about it and introduced many people to it. And rightly so, the coffee was fantastic and the service and ambience matched it. That I could buy my coffee beans there(either roasted on site or premium beans from other suppliers) was just a bonus. I would have rated Coffeehead 5-star had I written this review 6-mths ago. Unfortunately, changes have taken place. The décor and layout has changed from being an eclectic distribution of tables where you could always find a good place to enjoy your coffee and meal, either by yourself at the bar-benches or at the larger tables, into a diner-style bench seating arrangement that awkwardly divides what used to be an inviting space. The retail shelves, which used to form an interesting part of the whole coffee-experience, now look more like a supermarket isle. The service has also gone down a notch, or two as staff have changed. On my last visit, it took me 10min to catch the attention of staff to order my first coffee. I am not sure what triggered a change to what appeared to be a winning formula. By my estimate, the new layout does not seat more people.(At the time of writing this review, the pictures show the old layout) A good coffee house is a combination of many things — Coffeehead used to have it all, but seemingly has let it slip from its grasp. The coffee is still good and I still buy take-away on my way to the train, but I meet friends elsewhere in Camberwell.

Coffee Head has an amazing range of coffee and the staff are incredibly passionate about the different flavours, tastes and aromas. We tried the house blend titled 1961, a strong, full-flavoured coffee with a slightly bitter bite. My favourite thing about this café is that you can choose from a huge range of coffee roasted by Melbourne’s best independent roasters. We purchased a 250gm bag of Streat Coffee and received one of our long blacks free.

I was doing a coffee run this arvo and Collective would be generally my preferred spot to get my cuppas from. They still are and I love them however I decided to give Coffee Head a go this time. I’d previously heard of it through one of my colleagues who’d said that they do pretty good coffees and he was not wrong. My flat white was quite nice actually. Set on Railway Parade just off Camberwell Station, Coffee Head is a few doors from Brunetti. Although there’s no seating outside, the interior is a large open plan, big enough to accommodate a sizeable number of foodies. With beans resting on shelves set along the walls, the tables are mix of tall tables/chairs and normal sized ones — I like that layout, it’s pretty cool and suits if you want to catch up with friends, grab some food or just chill while killing some time off. Browsing quickly through the menu, the porridge served w/poached seasonal fruit would appeal to me for brekkie while the pulled pork tacos w/corn, avocado, tomato salsa & smoked chilli mayo sounds pretty good for lunch — I will definitely try that next time! Heads up though, their coffees have gone up by 40cents as of yesterday. Now, I don’t mind forking out a bit more for something that’s good and yeah my flat white was nice but $ 3.90 for a regular coffee? — hmm. I think they might be kidding themselves a bit…

Always travelling around Melbourne for different local roasted coffee bean. And this place sum it all. The highlight is that Coffeehead is serving 7 different bean at one time. St Ali, Social Roasting Company, Delano, Padre. The Barista also very knowledgeable guiding me through the tasting notes! This place is like a cocktail bar minus alcohol. And they are starting to roast their own bean too. Can Not Wait. Oh. apart from coffee, chef has created a simple menu, offering clean and fun dishes. I had the spinach and bacon soup. And it was not to creamy, not to heavy that fit my brunch purpose. Will be returning, and love the smiles from the Saturday staff. meow…
