Crowne Plaza Canberra

Just checked in to the Crowne Plaza in Canberra and I have had the most amazing experience. I was greeted by almost all of the front house staff and received the most professional service. I was assisted initially by Samantha and then by Indigo. They were both very welcoming and inviting and provided all of the information necessary to make my stay enjoyable. Great customer service thus far and the room is excellent!

This hotel is a good option in Canberra. If you can be bothered trying to find elsewhere to eat, it’s not too far away — but if you can’t the restaurant here, «RedSalt», is fine. I don’t like how they will bring room service to my room without covers on though — open to the air along the hallways, ick. Anyway — the rooms are usually well appointed, but shelf space in bathrooms is often insufficient. Beds are comfortable, linen and towels are good, shower is good, gym is good and breakfast is good. Location is great if you’re going to a conference at the National Convention Centre too.

Traveling to Canberra a couple times a year from the States I’ve stayed a couple places. For Canberra this is my spot. Business travelers –this can’t be beat.
Yes, they are a chain and a large scale hotel so if you expect them to «fluff pillow» forget it… but it is a modern room close to all the sparse goings-​on and night-​life of Canberra. :)
Breakie — (my OZ lingo for breakfast) Buffet and massive. Good stuff both for the health nut and fat kid inside you. Comes with coffee pulled from the coffee bar.
* Hint — Book your room with the breakfast included — only $ 10 more a day and you’ll pay more than that for coffee and a bickie (biscuit) anywhere else.
— .5: Internet SUCKS at this place… it is sufficient to do what you need to do but in this day and age to charge for internet AND then put a MB limit on it before you pay again every 24 hours. **HINT** go get a MIFI and a service plan. If you are in AU for more than 5 days it is much cheaper. Think $ 70 (and if your company is reimbursing you anyway…) **HACK** free wifi in the lobby or agree who’s room you’ll put it on –each room is allowed 5 devices**
-.5: Why are the cleaning people in the halls ALL F-​ing day! I worked from the room one or two days and I didn’t put the Do Not Disturb up… had LITERALLY — 5 people banging on my door. Housekeeping, minibar, soap, towels… what is this a union shop? They have one person for each task and they come at 1 hour intervals. What a cluster f*&k. Then they hang out in the halls all day.
Gym is actually really good. Equipment is intended for real work outs (not the standard stair stepper and elliptical BS). you will get a mix of after work yuppies doing the trainer classes, out of shape middle aged folk who only work out at hotels, and stunning OZ-​girls who obviously have been keeping up with their running and squats. (*STANDS* — I salute you OZ fitness gals! Please continue to avoid the downfall of western asses… supersizing.) Sauna is ok — functional. Pool is small and I’ve only ever seen a manatee and a raisin out there…

A good hotel in the centre of Canberra. I always stay here as the location is good, and the hotel itself is comfortable. Breakfast is expensive ($ 24/​$ 30) but if you have two people and add it to your booking at the time if reservation it’s only $ 35 for two which isn’t bad as long as you eat up!
If there’s only one of you, don’t worry… Go for a walk for breakfast. Dobinson’s around the corner is good.
Rooms are getting a bit tired, but on the whole it’s a good place to stay.

I like the Crowne Plaza. In a city where hotels are far too overpriced and you get very little for your travel allowance dollar, the service and comfort of the Crown Plaza makes a nice change.
This is a comfortable travellers hotel with reasonable sized rooms, large and comfortable beds and pillows and good quality bedding. The bathrooms are a bit tired but have been spruced up a bit recently. I like the dressing gowns — so handy in the morning when you’re getting ready.
Like I said, this is a travellers hotel but the service is top notch and the staff are very pleasant. They have rooms overlooking the park so ask for one of them if you can. It’s part of the Canberra Casino complex but I have never journeyed beyond the recption/​foyer/​lifts/​room so can’t comment on the other parts of the complex. I always try to stay here if I can as it’s in the CBD and close to shops, amenities and public transport.

Ok, it’s a hotel, it’s clean functional.
Breakfast and room serivce is way — and I mean –Wh-​EY over priced.

Slightly worn room. In the middle space between plainly functional and business-​grade. Breakfast for $ 30? Forget that, I went down the road. Charging for internet? I hate that. And wait, I need to take a lift to the ground floor, then get out and get the other lift to get down to the parking garage? That’s a bit annoying.

Very nice hotel that caters to the needs of every guest. My room included a free bottle of wine and a bag of chocolates.

Good hotel. Simply put. It’s as to be expected for the price and location etc. but the staff were friendly and the room was clean and modern. I didn’t pay for Internet so I can’t tell you how much it cost. But I did sit on a nice balcony overlooking a park. My only complaint would be that they Didn’t redo the bathrooms when they remodeled. Or maybe they part did them. So they look a little tired.

The staff and room were okay but they charged astronomical prices for internet.
