Loved it, from the welcome at the front desk, to the minute I walked into my room, just loved it, was just what I needed for a 2 day business trip. The rooms are a good size for one, the bed is to die for, just melted into it, it was so good first morning I slept in, I don’t sleep in so I must have been comfortable all night, get the $ 14 bacon and eggs, was the better of the 2 choices, same spot for dinner 2 nights running, menus need to be up dated, mine was n 2 bits ripped down the middle but that’s no big guy, the food is really good, the staff are brilliant, would I stay there again, yes, without arguments
But the 1960s wallpaper needs to go from the ceilings in the rooms, and a easier remote control for a old fart like me lol, but the showers made up for everything,
Only thing against it was lack of power points and light in hallways

Location not the best unless you are driving or hiring a bike — hike to the buses or a store of any kind. Canberra is spread out … way out. Super coffee place next door and the Pepper food and staff is top rate, but no bargain.
The hotel should be studied by all design students to show why the basics are so important. Whom ever did the remodel and interior design slept thru the first year — especially the part about Form Follows Function. The intended use of a hotel end product is to provide a home-​away-​from-​home for paying travelers. It should NOT be first a canvas for artistic or interior design fantasy. Make it work first, then have a go at artistic flare. There are thousands of hotels to observe without experimenting. Allow me …
Light switches should be visible from the place one needs to light. Doors should open out of the way — even if cute cupboard styles look arty — and should not prevent turning on the light for the room you open the door to enter. Shower controls should be close to the shower head so that adjustments can be made during the same hour you take your shower. Hip door-​less showers are great in Mexico or Morocco — but in a humid area they just pump more steam into the living space. Black dark halls and stairwells do nothing to help your clientele find their way. Furnishings need to fit into the space allotted for them regardless of how hip they look. A desk without an electrical outlet at hand is useless in this century — or the next. Phones placed in the corner behind the bed are not useful unless in that bed. Lights placed in the middle of a mirror prevent the mirror from performing its intended function unless serving as an art piece replicating being a deer in the headlights. Toilet paper is used by one sitting on the loo — test the location prior to installation.
But the beds are great, room 211 at least was stone quiet. The towels magnificent — if only there was a place to hang them to dry.

This hotel is clean and feels like it has been recently remodeled, even if it still has some quirks that perhaps are part of the Canberra retro look. A DVD player in the room? bathrooms that are stylish but not functional?
It is worth the stay if you find a good deal and the staff are nice and friendly. But I really wonder who in their right mind contracted the interior designer in this new millennium.

This hotel is quite nice. I arrived around 4pm on a Saturday and the very, very friendly receptionist got me situated immediately. She was even able to turn my Australian coins in to larger denominations (about $ 11, not much), which was great. Awesome service by her!
My room was not large, but was certainly comfortable. It had all of the standard comforts — good sized bed, desk, decently sized TV with good channel selection. The bathroom was quite large, and the shower was heavenly. On a cool winter visit, this was a big plus. Also, free WiFi that was fast and reliable! No view to speak of, though — I looked across a courtyard to another building. So be it.
Location wise, you’re less than 10 minutes walk from the bars and restaurants of London Circle, at most. You’re right off of a great path for running/​biking/​walking. There are a few cafes in the area, and they use one of them (A. Baker) for breakfast. If breakfast is included, you’ll get a special menu at A. Baker with 5 or so choices, plus coffee/​tea/​juice. All of the choices tend to be pretty inventive, so if you’re looking for a simple breakfast I might recommend looking elsewhere. But it was good. The in-​house restaurant, Bicicletta, is okay — not great, not bad. With tons of other choices nearby, it’s worth skipping.
I would certainly stay at the Peppers Gallery hotel again when in Canberra.
