Three to five is in a state of flux. The old premises of La Lupita is going through some changes. For the moment the owner Attila is running his Al Carbon food truck at the back. You have to follow their Facebook page to get an idea of when they might do that, but it’s definitely worth the anticipation. Trying out their newly built wood fire oven, the Al Carbon truck was serving up wood fired, slow roasted to perfection lamb tacos. Yes those same kind of tacos made famous by the previous incarnate La Lupita. Awesome freshly made corn tortillas and simple additions like purple cabbage and pickles. Respadas. It’s a finely shaved Mexican snow cone. I’ve never tried anything like it. Chilli lime salt with agave syrup, Watermelon and Rose and Sweetened condensed milk. Very refreshing on a Summer’s eve. Attila tells me this time around they are going Turkish. That’s his real cooking passion. Slow roasted lamb, house made bread and tapas style sides, designed to be eaten by hand around a table with good friends. Something great is coming to the inner west. Watch this space.
