I would say that the char kway teow I ate was average. Oily and salty, nothing special. But the portion is quite big, it can be shared between two ladies. The waitress are nice, I may come again just to have kaya toast next time.

I have been here quiet a few times (four times) and I have to confess that every time I have tried only one dish «Curry Yong Tau Foo Chee Cheong Fun». It is a large bowl of wholesome rolled rice noodles (my favourite kind of noodle) hidden under extremely well spiced curry sauce and lots of fresh vegetable including Okra. The first time I was so hungry, I ordered roti in fear of it not being enough. It is more than enough for any hungry beast and I suggest everyone should have this place bookmarked for lunch. Hopefully the next time I will have the chance to go through the rest of the menu.

Located just off Swanston, Chai is easy to get to. My friends and I have been going there regularly to eat like Malaysians.
The piece de la resistance of Chai is the Curry Yong Tau Foo Chee Cheong Fun. Rolled up rice noodles soaked in an Asian curry gravy topped with vegetables stuffed with fish paste? I think we have a winner.
Other dishes I could recommend are the Char Kway Teow and Assam Laksa. Service is great, and food comes out fairly quick.

Another Asian restaurant in Carlton? No way.
This one actually has atmosphere though. It is a clean, modern place, that doesn’t just have trays of food sitting out waiting to be dished into a place.
Love their noodle soups. Especially their laksa (although, again, i wish it was spicier!).
Even have some outdoor seating, which is kinda nice on the evenings we get these days.
