The Corkman is a pretty standard pub that draws a bit of a strange mix of an after-work crowd and backpackers. It has a small outdoor courtyard, which is a nice spot to hang during summer. The food at the Corkman is not great, and over priced for what it is. I’ve had several work lunches there and have always been pretty disappointed with whatever I’ve ordered. If you’re going to eat there, I’d suggest keeping your order simple — like a pie, or burger or fish and chips. The more flouncy items on the menu always look a little sad.

I JUSTCAN’T GETENOUGH! So I spend the vast majority of my time here… I am a poor student. It happens. But, luckily, the Corkman is [almost] always there for me! Not open on the weekends(waaaaah waaaaaah) but lunch till late all all week long is there when I need it. Great HUGE parmas. Yummy calamari. Even good fajitas(for the money). Student ID gets you cheap pints and jugs of Boags. Other than that there’s some cheap and good house wines and a full bar. Depending on the day of the week you can even catch some authentic Irish musicians jamming away. Wednesdays there is a group of random board game lovers that meet in the back room, and the local college meets often for pints and small-time musicians playing in the side room. Very cool and very diverse and great spot to meet all kinds of students, fresh out of mom & dad’s house, all the way up to old farts like me. Which makes it that much better there’s a Hostel upstairs!
