Very funky fitout of the place. Hidden around the side of the foodcourt which is becoming the Asian section at the moment. Good service, quick meals. I had the chicken cashew nut pad Thai. Was very tasty. Would go back.

I don’t believe in curses, but the food court space where Lang Suan just opened up has seen more ghosts than a haunted house. By my count there’s been at least 5 businesses open up in this spot only to wither on the vine and disappear with nary a whimper. That could all be about to change. Lang Suan brings Thai street food to the masses in a welcome change from standard food-court staples that lack the barest hint of imagination(I’m looking at you, generic Chinese and sandwich places). The décor is ace, they’ve managed to make you feel like you’re in a warm, rickety little hawker station in a pocket of Kho Tao. Water comes in tin camp mugs. You sit on wooden stools at low tables. The kitchen is just there with fragrant steam billowing out of it like some culinary giant’s bellows. For entrée we smashed the $ 2ea beef and chicken sticks — I thought this might be a single cube of meat on a tiny skewer given the price, but no, they were good-sized, and the meat was succulent and juicy, with 3(count ‘em!) dipping sauces to choose from. Then came betel leaves filled with shredded toasted coconut, fresh chilies and a drizzle of sweet ginger sticky sauce which made for a damn fine parcel of delicious when you wrapped it all up and shoved it down your gob. Mains were a spicy larb gai and a pork, mint and onion number that I can’t remember the name of. Both were great, top notch. Sticky rice came wrapped in little plastic bags inside bamboo cube containers which was fun. This joint feels like it should be on a high street, not a food court. Which is high praise indeed.
