Yummmm! We had dinner there recently and will definitely be back, the food was great! We had gyoza, teriyaki chicken and Chicken katsu curry, all three were delicious, the miso soup was great too! Just wish there was okonomiyaki on the menu :’(

! I’ve been around here and there, and I think Sakana is one of top three best Japanese Restaurants in Australia.(!)

Great quality Japanese for affordable prices. Much better than your run of the mill sushi trains etc. Has become my new local favourite, can’t wait to try the rest of the menu!

When I feel like Japanese Bento boxed meals, theres one really good place I like to go to– Sakana in Clayfield. This cute little place serves fantastic Bento Box meals and is definitely one of my favourites. So far all the food I’ve had here has been fresh and the ‘Steak’ in the Bento meals are always tender and fulfilling. It comes with Japanese salad with tasty dressing, assorted tempura vegetables, pickles, sushi and miso soup. For all you get in the Bento Box, they are reasonably priced and very satisfying. Dining experience is not the best though… It’s so cramped in there and you end up bumping into other diners as you shuffle in your seat. Waiters seem to have difficulty placing dishes on the table due to the space issue. It’s clear that the waiters in Sakana do not speak much English. It’s better to point to what you want on the menu to avoid confusion. They’ll respond by, «Ah. Oh. Yes, yes!». Still, if you get what you ordered in the end, it’s not really a terrible thing. If you wanted to just drop by and get a table at peak times like Friday night or Saturday, expect to be at that impossible-to-get-to-table in the corner. Reservations for peak times is recommended and you should request specific tables if wanting to avoid cramped space.
